Belkin n52te Tournament Edition SpeedPad $30 @Amazon

Do people use these with a standard keyboard next to them? or do you just bust it out for FPS's?[/QUOTE]
I almost bought one for L4D, TF2, etc. Instead I'm looking into a tablet and pen for my PC. Anyway, it's likely I'd keep it stored away until needed for use.

Side note - can anyone recommend a tablet and pen?

Mostly for FPS, or any other game, like racing.

I gave it a try and compared it to the logitech G13 at the same time. Wasn't for me. They both took up too much space on my desk and for my small hands was a little uncomfortable. The G13 was more comfortable but didn't have the same thumb buttons as the Belkin. I gave up on both and got this keyboard that I really like instead. It has the macros and I don't feel so "stranded" from the keyboard as I did with the gaming keypads. It was on clearance for $40 at Best Buy FTW.

You're not wrong that the drivers have not been updated in an eternity and that it may have flakey compatibility with Windows 7. In fact, you should note the device is "Powered by Razer." If you go to razerzone (Razer's website), you'll find it in the "Legacy" section in the "Powered by Razer" subsection of retired products.

That is, products no longer under production or being actively supported. Still, reviews on amazon.com seem to imply the device functions on Win7. More research is needed.

EDIT:

I'll give it a shot. I was interested a while back and $30 seems like a fair deal for something like this. Even at $30, if it doesn't last forever that's not bad. Imagine how the schmucks who paid $80 for it feel after support evaporated. I wanted something that took my left hand off my laptop but didn't take up keyboards-worth amount of space. It'll look not horrible (aka great) with my black, blue, and silver Asus G50, Zalman NC2000, and Razer Naga.
