I thought there was a FAQ for the Best Buy cards, but could not find it. My question, can the Best Buy Gamer Coupon that comes in the CD case with the gift card be used on sale merchandise?

I just went to buy a game on sale this week (Civ IV expansion) and when they scanned the coupon it came up $0.00, the cashier read the terms of the coupon (which state it cannot be used in combination with other "offers") and he told me that since the game was on sale that I could not use the coupon. I politely told him that I had used it before without any problem he got the head worker bee over. I told her the same thing, she asked a couple stupid questions, then gave me the credit.

So, can the coupon be used on sale items or was this just some fluke?

THe coupon always comes up as $0.00, they have to hit total, the computer "packages the prices" and the $5 is taking off.

You just got a stupid cashier.

Technically, a sale price is an offer, so he was right. The two do work together though, obviously.

Yea but even though he was technically right, the computer can't tell the difference. All the cashier had to do was hit total and the discount would have applied.

The cashier probably freaked out that it said 0.00 and paniced... it happened to me once, I calmly told the cashier just to total it, and voila the discount came off. Most cashiers have no clue what's on sale anyways.
