a few weeks ago BB was pricematching the TRU deal where if you bought SMG you'd get a $25 gift card. well, it says I paid $25 for SMG and got a "free" $25 gift card. It also says I used a $50 gift card to complete the transaction. My receipt says I paid $50 for SMG and got a free $25 gift card.
 
I was going to say they screwed up, but do you have the original receipt? That usually tells you more then what the rewardzone site tells you as it is simplified for online vs the receipt. I was going to say BB dropped the price of SMG to 25 and gave you a 25 dollar gift card and you end up buying the game with the gift card and just paid tax...so you got SMG for free minus tax. Is this right?
 
I do and I'll scan it later today. It says I paid $49.99 + $4.10 tax and the $50 gift card I used to pay with has a $0 balance. It's just weird. Either they owe me $25 or they owe me 250 points.

WAIT... did you say you used your OWN 50$ gift card or the one they issued to you on that transaction?
 
you only get points for the price after all disounts have been applied....just wait 30 days...if it credits wrong then complain......
 
It shouldn't be a discount though. I guess what they coded the coupon to do was to basically make the game half-off by refunding $25 to the gift card? Still, it shouldn't say "free gift card" there if that's what they did.

and yeah, I've gotten points with gift cards before. I bought an 80GB classic entirely with gift cards and got the points 30 days later.
 
i'm confused. so did you pay 4.91 out of pocket on that purchase and not used any gift cards from previous promos/purchases correct?

if so then BB screwed up and sold you a game and all you did was pay the tax :)
 
no. I used a $50 gift card to purchase the game. I got a $25 gift card back. The gift card was supposed to be "free" but apparently I paid for it.
 
BB policy prior to 12/2 was all GC purchases would not give RZ points until the GC was redeemed (w/ points going to the redeemer). Looking at the transaction history you bought a game and a $25 GC (which is the proper way of giving free GCs so the company doesn't get screwed on returns) and paid for it with a $50 GC. There's nothing wrong in the math, just in the way it's displayed. In fact it looks like they're giving you more points than are displayed on the receipt...

Looking at my own reward zone it appears to be the same with all BB transactions (I don't like the new look one). All items are listed at the top, with the purchase method being listed after tax. Anything after tax should be what your point total will be for the transaction...
 
ah, the missing piece of information; thanks for that.

It make sense and is more or less what I figured happened. I just needed it explained.
