Best deals/buy for gamers? Favorite promotion?

Now that EB & GS is the biggest gaming retailer... there probably won't be as much competition that will give gamers great deals. I C my EB account info & order history is now all formated like Gamestop. This is sad because I really liked how EB ran things.

Well, some of my favorite deals I had from EB in the past:

1- $2.99-$9.99 BRAND NEW GAMES
2- Shipping being $1.99 flat rate for most part
3- Hot preorder bonuses
4- Selective guides being $.99
5- Free shipping for daily specials.

Other deals seen from other retailers like Amazon, Outpost, Walmart, etc.

2 games for $20
2 games for $30
3 games for $30
3 games for $50

What kind of deals were your favorite? Am I missing some common deals here? Would you buy games new or used? I personally like mine new but I know many here would just buy used as long as it is the cheapest....?

Thanks for this thread, though no one has replied in a couple weeks. I've been wondering about general cheapass buying strategies myself.

I know about the Black Friday/Day After Thanksgiving sales, but other than that, what sales come up regularly?

I've been noticing a lot of older games on Amazon for really cheap. Not from Amazon itself (which doesn't seem to sell video games at all), but from their affiliate sellers, or whatever they call them.

For example, I just ordered Syberia for Xbox for $7.78 with $3.50 S&H. This is for a new game. Has anyone else been using these sellers on Amazon?
