Best DS RPG?

zebbers

CAGiversary!
Anyone? Anyone? I'm looking for something that would be more than just a remake and that utilizes the touch screen well. It looks like all the rpgs are japanese though, lol :) I knew I shouldn't have taken spanish in college.

Right now, there aren't any good RPGs for DS, at least US ones IMO. There's a lot of promising titles in the pipe, though.
I read that a remake FFIII is coming to DS.
Thats just it US handhelds are currently starved for a good completely original RPG.

Speaking from the point of view of someone who could never appreciate RPGs, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, is superb, and the most enjoyable genre piece I've ever had the fortune of playing.

This probably doesn't help you.

You going to have to wait til the end of the year for a lot of the stuff.

(Dates taken from Gamespot)

FFIII- Oct 3, 2006
Tales of Tempest- ?
Children of Mana- Oct 30, 2006
Deep Labyrinth- Aug 15, 2006
Magical Starsign- Oct 23, 2006
Contact- Sep 19, 2006
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates- ?

Is Partners in Time better than Superstar Saga?

Most of the stuff I've read says SS is better. I'm playing it right now, and plan to get PIT when I finish it. I'm really enjoying SS, but most of it is pretty easy so far.

SS is much better than PiT. PiT gets repeative and dull because of all the button mashing.

Lost in Blue is a great RPG. I just started replaying it now. I need to see the diff endings :p.

I know you specifically say you want a DS-made RPG that uses its functionality to the max, but in all honesty, I think the best RPGs you can get are GBA games...Superstar Saga, Golden Sun 1&2...

Still, I think Contact looks interesting, and Rune Factory should be quite unique also...

I second Lost In Blue. I'm not all that far into the game yet but it's really fun and does a pretty good job of utilizing the touch screen and having 2 screens.

The only DS RPG I’ve truly enjoyed thus far has been the import version of Children of Mana I picked up a few months ago. I have know knowledge of the Japanese language (Hell, one could argue that I’ve yet to master English! ;)), but I was able to enjoy the action elements and puzzle through enough of the plot to both complete and thoroughly enjoy the game.

I agree... SS was also really funny. PiT failed to make me do anything more than a 'heh'. They should've stayed true to SS rather than try to take it any further.

PSO. *Wishful thinking*

I really didnt like PiT that much. I played through half of it and traded it in during the EB/GS trade in deal for a DSL. I am, however, eagerly anticipating Contact and FF:CC DS.

There isnt much in terms of RPG's yet for the DS. There's PiT, Lost in Blue, Lost Magic, the completely forgetable Tao's Adventure, and Lunar: Dragon Song *SHUDDER*. The real goodness for DS RPG's will come starting this September.
