Best head unit brand?

I'm looking to buy a new car stereo head unit and I want to know the best brand. I've heard Alpine is good, but I have no idea. I'm looking to spend $100-$150 for one. Any suggestions?

I have to agree with him on Pioneer.

Go with Pioneer if you only have $100-$150 to spend, otherwise I highly recommend Alpine.

Check out www.crutchfield.com in their clearance section. You can get some great deals in there. Clarion and Alpine are some of the best. Pioneer makes some great entrly level head units.

I would recommend this over the new "entry level" deck that they stock at $129 if for no other reason than it's got 4v pre-amp outs.

I would seriously look for one with MP3 playback. It is so awesome. You can get over 10 hours of music on one cd.

edit: plus, crutchfield sends you a free wiring harness and install kit, a savings of about $20-$30. Plus, you can call them when ever you want if you ahve any questions.

it is a pioneer DEH-P3700MP its the same price as the Alpine and it basically does what the alpine does but this one can do MP3 playback....They both basically do the same thing so it comes down to which one you like...
I tell you what i would like to get my hands on the Alpine IVA-D901 Alpine's newest indash LCD DVD player...it looks crisp as hell..hook those bad boys up to some JL W7 twelves and get some MB Quart Components speakers..oh man..im drooling now
