Best place to exchange a game without a receipt?

I recently bought Bioshock and The Darkness online (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158608) and got The Darkness for free, planning to switch it in for Mass Effect or Super Mario Galaxy. Only problem is, I don't have a receipt (as I obviously bought it from Amazon and not a store). I tried Walmart today, but they said I need a receipt. The Darkness is still unopened and sealed, so it shouldn't be too hard to find a place... right?

go to gamestop or Best Buy and insist that they change it...if that doesnt work call corporate and tell them what you are trying to do... they should accomodate you...

Sell it on your local craigslist or turn it into GS against Rockband +40% with edge...
the question you are asking is frowned upon here as essentially you are asking where to conduct a fraudulent return...
I'm trying to nicely answer your questions before the Big guns step in with stronger CAG words of wisdom...

I didn't realize it was so frowned upon... the way I considered it, they wouldn't lose any money. They would just be exchanging one piece of inventory for an equal piece of inventory. I might just decide to play The Darkness and hold off on Mass Effect for a while.

You didn't buy it at a retail store, you can't return it to a retail store, with or without a receipt. That's fraud.

If you don't want The Darkness, as suggested above, trade it in somewhere, or sell it on here. Returning it to where you didn't buy it is fraud.

lol...i cant believe how many times a person asks about fraudulent returns...and that copy of Darkness that you "trade" in would end up sitting on the shelve alot longer then a title like Mass Effect

Geez... youve been here since 05 and dont know how that a ct is frowned pon here, just enjoy your darkness game for a few days and then trade it in... or list it on ebay or amazon

The best legal option you have it to trade it in at GameRush/Blockbuster. The Darkness trades in at $35, despite it dropping to $29.99 MSRP just about everywhere.

And....yet again, a return fraud type question is posed, which still tells me we NEED a return fraud sticky. At least if we had one, maybe then these topics would stop being made.

We could give it a flashy, eye catching title like 'RETURNING A GAME TO A PLACE OTHER THAN WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT WITHOUT A RECEIPT IS RETURN FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!'. We could have it flashing every color in the spectrum and just by placing your mouse over the title, a booming voice would come from your pc speakers, saying the same phrase as above, but with the words DON'T DO IT!!! after it.

Good idea? At least then we wouldn't have to wade through 10 or more of these topics a month, right?

He may have registered about 2 years ago, but he's only been active in the forums for 5 months.

To throw in my hat, it's fraud and is definitely not an equal exchange; the retailer loses the ability to move a game that sells.

Completely ignoring everyone's correct stance that The Darkness would continue to rot on the shelf while Mass Effect would fly off the shelves...your "way of considering it" is completely wrong.

In what regard is The Darkness "an equal piece of inventory"? In the sense that The Darkness used to have a MSRP of $59.99 and Mass Effect currently hold that price?

That's one of the best excuses I've heard in a while. I really need to stock up on clearance games at Target, then try to exchange them elsewhere for full price games because...at some point...these clearance games had the same MSRP. I've got a copy of All Pro Football 2K8 I picked up for $7.50. Wonder what game I should demand Wal-mart gives me instead.

Are you serious? People still wouldn't read it. People make posts in the deal forums asking questions and stuff despite it saying in big letters right at teh top of the edit box saying to create a thread if only posting a specific deal.

Your idea will make the forums look like a cheap Las Vegas Casino/Brothel. :D

we should close these types of threads. theres like 1 every 2 weeks.

sell the game on ebay. returning it to a store you didnt buy it from is FRAUD.

I'd delete it if I had the power. Unfortunately, my powers don't work here, kinda like Superman without the yellow sun.
