Total Xbox n00b here, so bear with me :) I read some of the Xbox threads on here and talked to my friends, and I think I've figured out which games I'd like to have in my collection. What are the best deals for these games?

KOTOR
Jade Empire Limited Edition
Ninja Gaiden Black
Psychonauts
Shenmue II
Burnout 3

I already have Halo 1 & 2 and KOTOR2, thanks to the CC clearance earlier this summer. I generally keep up with most deals, but pretty much shut out anything Xbox related when I look at them. My understanding is that I can get most of these games pretty cheap, but any suggestions on where to get them (or even other recommended games) would be greatly appreciated.

Jade Empire is $10-15 at TRU, where limited editions seem to be the only editions, and Psychonauts is $10.48 there on clearance. Wait until the week of 10/22 and partake in the B2G1F sale.

Shenmue is usually like 6-9 bucks used, but is harder to find. i would also get Doom 3 CE, you can usually find that one around, if not the regualr version is just as fun.
another must haves for the xbox, all under $10 at EB used:
Amped 2
Colin McRae Rally4
Beyond Good and Evil
GTA games are a bit more polished on the xbox than ps2

Ninja Gaiden Black
Shenmue II

NGB is on sale at Best Buy for $20-$5 GGC=$15. Shenmue was $10 a while back at Fry's but they might be out of stock by now.

A lot of people don't like it, but I'd also recommend Fable: The Lost Chapters, which is also $15 after GGC if they still have it in stock. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is also an EXCELLENT game, althoughthe beginning is a little slow. It's the game before Oblivion on the 360. Get the Game of the Year Edition as it has both expansion packs built in.

As for cross-platform games like Psychonauts or Burnout, I'd also reccomend Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, Mercenaries, Fatal Frame series, Deus Ex 2 (although the framerate isn't so great), Kingdom Under Fire series, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Phantom Dust, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Max Payne 2 ($2 at GameStop new), Fight Night 3, Brothers in Arms series, Sid Meier's Pirates!, Half-Life 2 (also bad frame rate but worth playing if you can't play the PC version), Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, Jet Set Radio Future, Otogi series.

Actually some of those aren't cross platform. But the ones that are, are usually much better on Xbox (I have both systems, it's an objective opinion).

Shenmue 2 is $9.82 at Wal-Mart.com

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1953850

They also have value bundles 2 for 20 and 2 for 30, but it's YMMV on the good titles.

My recommendations (Sorry if they were mentioned already) for the XBOX are Bards Tale, Darkwatch, Fable, Forza, Grabbed by the Ghoulies (VERY underrated), Indigo Prophecy, Oddworld Strangers Wrath, Psi-Ops, Star Wars: Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast + Jedi Academy, Star Wars Republic Commando, The Suffering, Voodoo Vince (another VERY underrated platoformer), X-Men Legends 2.

Some of the games mentioned (i.e. Indigo Prophecy, Doom 3, Sid Meier's Pirates) I have some interest in, but I'm hesitant because I'm not sure how they compare with their PC counterparts. Any info on this?

btw, thanks for all the great suggestions!

Panazer Dragooon
Otogi 1+2
Guilty Gear XX #Reload
ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth (not as good as the first 2 games though)
The House of the Dead III
Sega GT/Jet Set Radio Future - under $5 at EB, a must get

Oh it's broken? Bum hard drive? I might be able to fix it if you can't do it on your own. For a fee, of course. =) If you just need advice I can help with that, too.

Depends. Each game has separate issues, but generally, the PC version is always better provided you have a video card/setup that will run things well. Current generation PC video cards are much nicer than what the Xbox can do, and PC games generally have less loading time.

Indigo Prophecy isn't a graphical wonder, for instance, so that isn't an issue. What is an issue is that they released two PC versions of Indigo Prophecy, where one is uncensored (i.e. boobies). If you aren't dying to see polygonal breasts, then there's really no big difference. The simple design of the game makes me think it was designed to be played on a video game console, actually.

Graphically intensive games like Doom 3 or Half-Life 2 however are a different story. HL2 has framerate issues on the Xbox, along with more frequent loading breaks compared to the PC version. Additionally, both D3 and HL2 look horrible if you compare the PC versions running on a decent computer. However, if you're like me and your computer doesn't even had a 3D card, the Xbox version is better than none.

Pirates! isn't a graphically intensive game at all so I doubt there's an improvement. The PC version might control better (I don't have firsthand experience with that), but I found the Xbox version to play just fine.

However, I'll skip the PC version often just to be able to play on my TV on a console. While you can hook up a PC to a TV, it just doesn't feel the same to me.

I've gone back and forth with PCs and consoles, and my current take on it is that even if the PC version is prettier, the consoles are easier to deal with.

You don't have to worry about the game not working for a mysterious reason, or no sound, or wonky graphics. You don't have to archive your save files. And while consoles aren't immune, I've seen a lot more crash bugs on the PC.

Nothing beats just being able to put in the disc (and perhaps the memory card) even years later. So, unless it's unplayably bad, I give the consoles an edge for simplicity's sake.

I'm Pro-Console, too, so I know what you mean. Plus if it's multiplayer like Halo or something, it's much more fun to play split screen on a decent TV instead of networking several PCs together.

Riddick is cheap in alot of different places. K-Mart for one. It's probably my favorite Xbox game other than Halo.

The PC version does have an extra level, though! Aside from the sewer levels, Riddick is truly one of the best Xbox games ever. I think it's one of the few movie-based games that is better than its source material.
