I own both systems and would like wireless headphones that work for both. I don't need a "headset" per se, I don't need a mic to speak into. I do want good quality sound and wireless compatibility for both PS3 and 360 systems.

Best deals?
Will I find better deals if I don't look for wireless?

Thanks!

Non Wireless will be cheaper. I'm not sure the "best" but I have tried out a few headsets. The best being Wired Turtle Beaches x1 (I think), but they stopped making those.

I moved up to another Turtle Beach that was wireless and really expensive, but it was crap so returned it. Ended up getting a much cheaper and better quality Logictech Wireless one. Right away you can tell that it's better from the packaging. The Turtle Beaches were either $200 or $300 and in crappy plastic packaging. The Logictech one had all the cords indiviually boxed and is very nice.

The only problem I've had with it is, after a few months of use, the cord to the Xbox Controller is messed up and other hear echo. This is NOT a problem if you don't plan to use the mic.

Everything else is much better. Most noticeable one is the distance you can go before losing sound. Over double than TB (Maybe TB just can't go through walls).

This was about a year ago, so prices change and whatnot, so check out recent reviews.

This is the Turtle Beaches X41 I had http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Turtle+...skuId=9408679&st=turtlebeachheadset&cp=1&lp=4

This is the much better (and cheaper, but prices aren't as big of a difference as when I bought them) Logictech F540 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Logitec...1239317&st=logictechwirelessheadset&cp=1&lp=1

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the Turtle Beaches couldn't be charged USB (maybe changed or you can get an adapter) which was horrible. In the middle of the game you have to take them off and let them charge for awhile. The Logictech, I just plugged into my laptop and kept on playing (and listening) while it charged at the same time.

Good info, Bob. Amazon has the 540s for $124 (3rd party) or direct for $149 (same as Best Buy but no tax).

It's a shame they're stuck in Stereo. Logitech made a 7.1 surround version for PC only, I think if they upgraded the console 540's to 7.1 it would definitely be a clear winner. With these high end headphones it's probably best to go 5.1 or better at this point.

Yes. Thanks for the info!
Do you think I can find wireless headphones without a mic? I'd assume that would cut down on costs.

Also, is USB the only way to "plug in" modern wireless headphones?

Thanks CAGs

The Tritton AX720 is excellent. Been using them for over a year and the simulated surround sound is excellent. Can't beat the price at $129.

do you own the logitech f540s? i was looking into them, but some of the negative comments seemed to be that they got very hot in the ears/head. did you experience this? are you happy with them?

Sorry to bump a slightly aging topic, but easier(and less clutter) then creating a new thread. Slightly off the OP's topic(sorry) but is there any good wired headsets still being made, other then the turtle beach x1's. Side question, is there any surround sound headsets that are wired? I don't even remotely need wireless(as the room I would use these in is my office, and it's about 5 feet of difference) and would like to save a little bit of cash if I could :D

For stereo I recmmend the Logitech F540s. They are wireless and have multipule inputs. The Tritton AX Pros are the best bang for your buck wired 5.1 sets and they work great.
