Best. Real. Time. Strategy. Game. Ever

Starcraft is good but it just seems to be a copy of Warcraft but done in a sci-fi setting, which doesn't make it bad. This game is in my top five but i just feel that Warcraft is better.
 
I have to agree with starcraft

It was such a step above warcraft 2 and a fabulous story as well. Warcracft III was a great game that I enjoyed but I don't feel it was near as larage a step.

I never could really get into C&C. I played through the american mission of the C&C generals but it just din't seem to have the same charge.

I played through a lot of Age of Empires 2 but it just felt like so much filler.

Well those are my thoughts.

I would have to agree about C&C although i have played most of themm, but i never could get into them. I don't know why but ty seem very unbalanced.
 
Dune 2, Warcraft 2 and C&C: Red Alert are my favorites

Warcraft is probably the best series, C&C comes in 2nd ... I never got into 'Age of ' games ...
 
I would say the Warcraft series. Anyone here play Empire Earth? I thought that was a pretty fun game.
 
No votes for Rise of Nations? For shame.

Age of Mythology was pretty cool too.

Battle Realms looked like it would be cool, but damn if that's not one of the hardest PC games I've ever played.
 
Ill vote Rise of Nations. I just bought it (after 3 days playing the demo) and I can hardly stop playing it. Its a great game.
I also like the Star Trek: Armada games. They are not the best RTS games, but for a Trekkie its great to command huge fleets of ships I see on the show.
 
starcraft. i like that whole futuristic thing compared to WC, but WC is sexy, i mean those orcs? damn what sexy voice they got :D
 
You know, even when I learn them, I really hate when people rush. Sometimes I want to have a long game with somebody and make giant armies and the fight... it's way more fun than rushing for the sake of winning.
 
Yeah, rushing takes some of the fun out of it. I'm pretty good at holding off rushes now, but I like it when games go on for a while. It requires real foresight and planning to win a long game. And innovative strategies. Like in Tiberian Sun, filling up a harvester with blue tiberium and airlifting it into an enemy base. They figure, "hell its just a harvester what is this guy doing?" and then boom the harvester goes and so does their command center.

WORD, starcraft was and is an amazing game, yet I like warcraft 3 a bit more, just because I like the fantasy aspect.

The telsa coil rush is probably one of the slowest wins you can get...
Do you know how long it takes to build all of those powerplants to make enough energy to make a string of telsa coils that extends all the way to the enemy base?
 
Slightly off topic, but technically there isn't supposed to be a period after every word. It's supposed to be three sections, like this:

If you hacks would actually watch a few more Simpsons episodes (the good ones, not the new, crappy ones) you'd see that I'm right.

My vote goes for Warcraft III. They blended little RPG elements into classic Warcraft and made it really bitchin cool.
 
I've never played Warcraft 3. I feel like if I were to play it now I would just get horribly owned. I feel like online RTS always become Zerg rushes...

I played more General Chaos that any other RTS game.

For those not in the know, it was a Sega Genesis game made by the people who made Rampage, Xenophobe, etc.

Where are those guys today?
 
Hands down the best RTS I have ever played was the beautifully simple 'Ancient Art of War' from back in the days of the Mac Classic. Great differing levels of AI, simplistic and easy to grasp interface, and one of the first full out built-in campaign designers. I've played Warcraft, Starcraft, the Ages games. All of them great solid games but ultimately they all find their roots in 'Ancient Art of War' and none of them live up to it. The first time I beat the Thousand Islands campaign in 'Ancient Art of War' is still one of my favorite gaming moments of all time. For those interested it was originally published by Broderbund. I encourage everyone to scour for the game and an emulator to play it with and download it immediately. Well worth the effort.

God I forgot about that game.. it was excellent, I must have spent 100 hours in that game at one point in time. Wasn't its full title Sun Tzu's Ancient Art of War or something to that affect?

And there was a PC version also btw.
 
whoa whoa whoa. everyone is forgetting KKND. Krush, Kill, N' Destroy!!! lol, even when i got a free copy of that game, I STILL did not play it. it's damn hard for a rts to last now, with War3 having such an awesome multiplayer mode.
 
I forgot to mention Total Annihilation. I loved that game. It was even better with the expansion, and all the crazy units that some people came up with.

Way to miss the joke. That's a oft spoke line in the Legend of Zelda cartoon that was shown during the Super Mario Brothers Supers Show.
Considering he was crabbing about the malformed Comic Book Guy-sque line, an obscure reference to an old cartoon seem rather appropriate.

I thought that the Legend of Zelda was great as a kid, so I downloaded all of the episodes recently. All I can say is, looks like suicide for me again.
