Hey all,

What's some good music to go on a 40-minute run with? I've tried trance, but I can't find the right "zone". I've been listening to The Haunted and Dethklok on my runs, but they get repetitive. Any suggestions?

The Misfits - Earth A.D.

Testament - Demonic (you mentioned Dethklok....this album has same drummer as Dethklok, but everything else is better)

If you keep a pretty intense pace, there is nothing better. Nothing. If you keep it more casual, then maybe go with the beep-boop-beep-boop / hoez and dollaz music.

Techno or rap. You have to be lulled by the beat of whatever you're listening to. If not you will fuck your breathing up while running and get tired faster.

Queens of the Stone Age - You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar But I Feel Like A Millionaire

And anything by Rage against the machine.

That made me lol.

I'm not a fan of rap, and a lot of my EBM (Combichrist, Grendel, Tamtrum) have beats which I can't find harmony with. It's like 7 beats for each 3 paces I take.

I've forgotten about Cake; they might be good. Same with Saul.

Thanks.

Slayer's Reign in Blood album should be fine for a good half an hour. You can do the 40 if you repeat a few songs.

I recommend Initial D Non Stop Mega Mix. I've never seen the show and I think the songs are repetitive and lyrically inept, but they sure do get me mindlessly PUMPED.

Generally high tempo stuff gets me going.

Anything up tempo, suited to your taste in music someone mentioned "The Distance" from Cake (the correct title of the song ;) ) is a good one, I have a separate workout playlist just for runs... the right song can give you that extra boost in your runs

Death From Above 1979
Iron Maiden
Mindless Self Indulgence

Those three bands form the core of my running playlists.

You can be "lulled by the beat" of anything, it doesn't have to be techno or rap.

...of course, if you're forcing yourself to breathe in a pattern/time with the music you're listening to, you need to learn how to run safely in the first place.

I've listened to Rage Against the Machine's Battle of Los Angeles every since I started running eight years ago. Music taste has progressed but the running music stays the same.

Hi,

These two songs are played the most:
No One - Alicia Keys
Crazy in Love - Beyoncé and Jay-Z

don't laugh at this, but i like to listen to Asian Kung Fu Generation when i'm running - theyre some sort of japanese weezer-like punk-garage-high-school band style? i don't know how to describe them.

Black Betty (techno remix) - ram jam
Call on Me - Eric Prydz
Borschtchick - Monosurround
I'll Be There - Muttonheads
System Error - Dopamine

That's just some stuff. If that doesn't get your heart pumping I don't know what will.

Most trance is really zoney - you probably want house or cheesy trance for running purposes.

Took me a while to find the one of the better remixed versions; Spiderbait did one but Ram Jam were the original creators.

Far easier to show than tell:

And I agree, I think AKG is pretty good running music.

I generally use the rule "if I can sing it, it's not good workout music." If I can sing it, it always leads to distraction while working out, as I'd rather be singing than working out. ;) So, for the most part, my workout music is electronic.
I've been listening to some Slipknot shit and Three Days Grace when I run. Along with Sevendust, Saliva, and Mudvanye.
What's your favorite Slipknot album? I haven't got any and was going to pick up The Subliminal Verses on Monday because my local record store has it on sale. But I also want to pick up the self titled because it has "Wait and Bleed" on it. I like that song a lot.

I ran to Lupe Fiasco's "The Cool" tonight....worked pretty well.

And the other night upon recommendation from this thread I ran to "Buck the World" by Young Buck.

I prefer running to hip-hop/rap.

Just get Iowa. It has their best two on there. People = Shit and Heretic Anthem.

Holy shit I ran to The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, and it was epic. I had that along with Number Of The Beast and Run To The Hills. Win.
