I went to Blockbuster to see what games they had, in the buy 2 get one deal they have going on. I ran into 2 copies of GTA San Andreas without the box and manual for 9.99 each. I was suprised at the condition, no scratches, no writing or stickers or anything. I planned on getting one, but I only had 2 games, so I went ahead and got a second.

Now, I have GTA San Andreas already, in great condition with case and manual. Since I can do without the box art and manual, I've decided to trade it in before the value drops too low, but does anyone have any suggestions as to who has the best trade-in value?

Also, any suggestions as to what to do with the second GTA San Andreas without manual/box art?

Ebay. The game stores around me already have a ton of copies of San Andreas pre-owned, going through Ebay gets you cash and probably like 10 dollars more than what a store would give you credit

The OP post reminds me, CheapyD you guys should impliment a price trade-in search engine. Better yet, a cross-query search that would combine the results of the best buying price AND the best trade-in price to get the best overall value. Say llike I have GTA:SA to trade and I want to get Splintercell:CT; I could run a cross=query and see who has iit the cheapest overall.

unfortunately for your timing (and probably not a coincidence if you found them that cheap at blockbuster) the trade in value of GTA:SA just dropped recently because of aforementioned tons of copies that have been traded in.

...i wish someone would do a story about the irony of a game about theft and debauchary having such a high rate of being stolen and traded in for cash...

edit: i agree, a trade in value search would be nice, hard to keep up to date, but not a bad idea at all

That would be very difficult since stores in different areas will give different trade-in values on occasion. The prices would really become more of a rough estimate and people would bitch every time a game was marked at worth $30 in trade in and they were only offered $20.

Not saying it would be easy, but maybe we could incorporate the Zip Code as part of the query? If that could be done, I think it would better compensate for those 'pricing zones'. Just a thought.

But you will even have problems in the same zip code. I hit this stuff all the time, one of the local malls often gives better trade-in value than the other mall yet they are within 30 minutes of each other and well within the same zip code.

It might work but I can see a whole lot of bitching because it won't be right 100% of the time and you know how people get with YMMV sales, just imagine a continious version of that, constant bitching because "their" location isn't the same.

I for one, would be greatfull for something like this. I think a lot of disclaimers and providing dates and zip codes and the like would help.

But, its nice to have a least some idea what you are going to get when you trade something in.

As Scorch suggested, try getting rid of them on the boards. I would be interested in your other disc-only copy, if you would be willing to let it go...

Try trading it here . . .

I traded GTA SA for Oddworld Stranger 2 weeks ago . . . both mint and complete.

I'm really enjoying Stranger (most fun since Ratchet 3) . . . and the Xbox GTA SA is right around the corner.

More of something that would be nice, but totally impossible. maybe, and i hate to say this, trade in price queries should be directed towards the store locator, I'm pretty sure all of the stores listed with a locater are going to have the zip code search and list some phone numbers, even though some stores (depending on the employees) will not give out trade in prices over the phone (but you probably won't have a problem asking for just one or two games), it is most likely the most efficent way to go about it, as the search is really already in place ;)
