BioShock Movie Officially Announced!

I'd like to see it entirely in first person, but I'm not so sure how viable that would be for a major release movie.
At least Uwe Boll won't be directing it... :)
Thank god for that. The story in Bioshock:drool: has the potential to become a great movie and I really hope the don't fuck it up

Hopefully If they do that it won't be like DOOM.

I was unsure when I read the title, then I click the link and read who is this written by.....

It worked in Cloverfield.

Video game to movie always sucks. There is no hope. A first person movie based off a video game is so dumb an idea that Tom Cruise said he would quit Scientology if it happened.

Gore Verbinski's IMDB info:

Wow, Gore there is the definition of hit or miss.

POTC 1 was good.

Weather Man was fuckING WIN (I really loved that movie)

POTC2 & 3 sucked and I haven't seen the other movies.

I really hope they don't fuck this up, and that Ken Levine has a large part in helping to shape the movie.

do you people seriously think that Bioshock will be good as a movie? I hope something happens along the lines of the Halo movie cause all it will do is taint an otherwise excellent game...there has pretty much never been any game that has ever received generally good reviews from the public or critics

The game is all atmosphere, with a "story" that went from OK to laughable at times. Moral choices? Please. Guerrilla War on NES had just as much moral choices when it came to shooting POWs or rescuing them.

I bet ti will turn out like the Doom movie. Which isn't good at all. But that's still a step up from Super Mario Brothers the Movie and Mortal Kombat Annihilation.

If anybody can do it, I think he could do it (Gore). He made one of the most nightmarish movies I've ever seen (The Ring). Sure I know a lot of people like Ringu better, but I prefer the US version.

the ring was horribly bad....you probably like most video game based movies

Gore Verbinksi directing credits:

The Ritual
Mousehunt
The Mexican
The Ring
Pirates 1
The Weather Man
Pirates 2
Pirates 3

Draw your own conclusions. IMO, it's about 65/35 in his favor.

This would be nice, but as long as the story presentation in future Bioshocks are rock-solid I'm plenty satisfied.

I enjoyed Pirates quite a bit, so this could be good.

The ring is at 72% on rottentomatoes.com so your opinions about it are in the minority. His movies are hit or miss but at least he is a competent director that can get the money to do the the bioshock movie justice.
Hitman was a good movie based on a video game franchise. I hope this movie is good too.
I enjoy your sarcasm.

bioshock fails as a movie. It was a story specifically designed to comment on and work within the medium of an interactive game. This wil be a train wreck of special effects and bad acting.

last time I checked a 72 is a D-

Well you should check somewhere more reliable since it's a C-.

#1 - I have been out of school for a while
#2 - If I brought home a 72 on a report card when I was younger my parents would have whipped my ass
#3 - the ring was sub-par and everyone knows it
Rotten Tomatoes is a 100 point scale as opposed to a school grade scale.
since when is school grading not on a 100 point scale?
since when is school grading not on a 100 point scale?
To clarify, RT doesn't use an A to F scale.

And a 72% on Rotten Tomatoes is far from horrible. Not saying I liked The Ring, but that's a decent score.

well, whatever...all of you can hope and dream and jerk off to the slim chance that Bioshock the movie will be good...but we all know deep down inside that based on every video game based movie ever made that this one will be thrown into the shit pile along with the rest

i think the movie would be great if the end of the movie was the plane crashing from the beginning of the game. basically a prequel to the game, where everything went to shit through the politics and insanity.

Hoping for a good movie is one thing but it's clear that you WANT to hate this movie without knowing anything about it except the director.
To clarify, RT doesn't use an A to F scale.
A+ = 100

F = 64 or below.

Also, RT sort of operates on a bell curve, not like your traditional school grades. Thus, the analogy between the two is fundamentally flawed.

director dirschmector...video game to movie always sucks...you can't reciprocate a great game onto the movie screen...2 different worlds.....

everytime a movie comes out based on a book EVERYONE who read it is like "book was better".....same goes for video game based movies except none of them have been good yet
