I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question:
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?
No, says the man in Washington; it belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican; it belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow; it belongs to everyone.
No, says the man in the Vatican; it belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow; it belongs to everyone.
I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose...
Rapture.
different. I chose the impossible. I chose...
Rapture.

My idea of the perfect video game would be one that leaves an impact on me. Something that when I play it, I'm awestruck at every fine detail of this piece of art. Something more then just a video game, but something that lasts as a memory with me forever. That is BioShock. Everything about this game is completely flawless and no FPS does it better than BioShock does. The majority of First Person Shooter games are usually a dime a dozen where there's nothing new and extrordinary about the game, but something all the past games of its genre has already accomplished. BioShock takes a completely new direction with the genre and does better than any other First Person game I've ever played.

Welcome to Rapture
Gameplay - 5 out of 5
The gameplay is definitly a huge part in the success of BioShock. This game goes way past a FPS game and delivers to everyone, something new that's never been seen before in any video game. Every gun is customizable to suite the gamers needs. You can collect cash to buy items, hack machines so that the odds may be for you instead of against you, befriend the Big Daddy so he may act as a protector along with other cool tid bits that you'll find yourself blown away by.
Something else that makes BioShock more than your regular First Person Shooter game are the plasmids. These nifty little items give your character... somewhat of special abilities that he can use against the enemy and enviornment to help him on his journey through Rapture. Rapture truely does become your city to own.

Say Hello To Mr. Big Daddy
Story - 5 out of 5
The story is the best one i've ever experienced in a FPS game. The storyline in BioShock is a very deep and complex story that will make you think and shock you numerous times. There are many twists and turns, so the game always leaves you interrested up until the end. The story also reacts to the way you play which I found to be very awesome. You can basically choose your fate by either being the hero or the nemesis to some of the main characters in the game. I think that everybody will be presently surprised with the story in this game and how things end up turning out for them in the end.
Something that I loved about the story was the lack of cutscenes and how the story was told instead through tape recorders that your character can find during gameplay. This added a nice little touch to the game in the fact that it was all action, all the time.
The characters in BioShock are also some of the best I've seen in any game. Each character has their own story and you tend to gain interest in each character as if they were actual human beings. This game was written very well and would make a great feature film *hint* *hint*.

BioShock Takes Full Control Of The First Person Genre And Makes It It's Own
Sound - 5 out of 5
BioShocks sound is completely memorable and sometimes terrifying. Whether it's the firing of your weapon to a splicer crawling across the ceiling, this game has some of the best audio I've ever heard. The music they used in the game is also quite fitting for the 1950's looking enviornment and the voice acting is amazing.
BioShocks voice acting is the best I've heard from any game. The voices of Andrew Ryan and Atlas are truely amazing and the voice of Bridgette Tenenbaum is truely remarkable as well.
Graphics - 5 out of 5
BioShocks graphics are really quite amazing and are some of the best on the Xbox 360 & Playstation 3. The Graphics on the Xbox 360 version and the PS3 version are equally the same to one another. BioShock is probably the most beautiful game I've ever laid eyes on. Every moment is a moment to savor while playing BioShock.
A few times, I caught myself just standing still looking out a window of the building I was in into the underwater city of Rapture. This game definitly delivers the goods graphically.

Looks Like That Splicers "Cherry Popped"
Replay Value - 5 out of 5
The replay value of this game is great. Especially considering that there is two endings, it makes the game that much better at playing a second time. Plus, every play through is different and I found the game more interresting the second time around.
Overall - 5 out of 5
I definitly recommend BioShock to any breed of gamer whether you're an oldschool Penny Arcade gamer or whether you're into RPG games. This game has RPG elements, FPS elements and Horror elements so it suites most gamers perfectly. No game has shined as bright as BioShock in a long time. The game does have an M rating though so a warning is sent out to all minors that want to play the game, there is some adult content in BioShock. I definitly look forward to a sequel and I hope to hear people's responses on how they felt about the game as well. Happy gaming!
PS3 VS. Xbox 360

For those of you who want this game but don't know which console to get it for, this might make things a little easier for you on your decision. BioShock has to be one of the best single player FPS games ever and it plays beautifully on both consoles, but it also plays differently on both consoles. Which console has the better game you may ask? Well lets compare...
Gameplay: Playstation 3 takes it gameplay wise. BioShock was ported to the PS3 some time after it was released for the Xbox 360. Playstation 3's port includes more plasmids (which later were released for the Xbox 360 as free DLC), but it also contains an extra difficulty, Survivor, and additional missions which come in the form of side missions and are presented in challenge rooms. The load screen is also interactive with the gamer. The downsides to the PS3 port would be the 5 minute long installation screen the first time you play the game and it doesn't run as smooth as the Xbox 360 version does. Winner: Playstation 3
Sound: Exactly the same on both consoles. Winner: Both
Graphics: Xbox 360 takes it here. You would think that considering the fact that the Playstation 3 version of BioShock was released way after the Xbox 360 version and the fact that the PS3 has a hardware advantage to the 360, it's graphics would be better, right? Not the case with BioShock. Nothing was done to revamp the graphics for the PS3 version, as a matter of fact, the PS3 graphics for BioShock are worse than the 360's. Playstations port has very low resolution to it where the 360's graphics for BioShock are gorgeous.
Overall - Playstation 3
Playstation has the better game here for the fact that you get more for your money. The graphics aren't terrible for the Playstation 3's BioShock, just not as great as the Xbox 360's, but the extras you receive with the ported game are more than enough to make up for the graphical error.
