Blockbuster Buy 2 used dvds get 2 free (YMMV)

CAGiversary!
I didn't see this deal posted yet so I thought I would do it.

In my blockbuster region (North Jersey) the deal is buy any 2 used dvds at any price and get two of equal or lesser value free. I don't know if its nationwide so YMMV.

I'll be sure to check out my local BB this weekend, I've been wanting to go their to pick up some of the big summer movies from last year like Superman Returns.

It's nationwide. It's a good deal if you can find several $5.99 DVDs you want. Four movies for $12 brings back memories of EB/Gamestops 3/$10 minus $1 for Edge card. Ah, how I miss the days of the 3 for $10 at EB/GS, especially since any DVD that isn't in their system goes in the bargain bin. I got a lot of pricey special editions, rare movies, and independent films because they weren't in the EB/GS system and got tossed in the bin.

I guess the deal is okay for $9.99 DVDs as well, although I personally hate to pay $5 a pop for previous rentals, especially since they're in Blockbuster cases instead of their original cases, often have stickers on the disc or art, and are harder to trade to other collectors when you want to get rid of them.

My EB has a buy 2 get 3 free deal right now.

I can confirm this, we have it in the store I work at (Northern CA).

It is a really good deal for the $5.99 titles. For the $9.99 titles, it's the same as when it was 4 for $20, and the $14.99 titles it averages about $1 more per movie as 3 for $20 (which was like a 2 week thing, really wish that would come back); you just end up having to get a 4th movie. Average $8.03 a movie with $14.99 titles B2G2.

It's a decent deal, but I don't really have many movies I want. I'm thinking of getting Saw 2 and History of Violence since those are $5.99, but then need two more $5.99... I have to go see if anything gets me.

Also, haven't looked in games forum but thought I'd let those in this thread know, we have a B1G1 Free on Games $14.99 and below. Too bad there is nothing there I want either. Is Drakengard 2 any good?

Join a site like switchplanet.com or another DVD trading site, then just buy whatever $5.99 DVDs are in high demand and buy those as your two extras. Put them up for trade on the site and get yourself 2 DVDs that you really want in return. Or maybe a video game. I do this all the time.

Probably still works out to more money than $2 per DVD, depending on what they've jacked the cheapest DVDs up to now. My store got rid of the $5.99 bin and has everything at $9.99 and up now. Even at buy 2 get 3 free, that would be $4 per DVD.

Of course, I haven't been there in months since they got rid of 3/$10, so maybe the $5.99 bin is back at $5.99. Cheap DVDs are pretty much the only reason I ever shopped there. Their game prices usually suck.

Picked up 8 titles for $60. Couldnt find any $5.99 titles that interested me. Plus there were very few $5.99 titles at my local Blockbuster.

Picked up:

$14.99 School For Scoundrels
$14.99 Harsh Times
$14.99 The Grudge 2 (I know this got bad reviews........but I liked the first Grudge)
$14.99 Alpha Dog
$14.99 The Last King of Scottland
$14.99 Quiet
$9.99 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory(thats right the old 1971 one)
$9.99 The Notorious Betty Page

Wish I could have found Ghost Rider or Reno 911 Miami used...but I know those are too new yet.

I picked up Children of Men, Casino Royal, Flags of Our Fathers, and Superman Returns at my local Blockbuster today. Thanks OP.
