Blu-Ray is going nowhere. And you got used to paying 5-10 bux for Crappy PQ movies with even CRAPPIER audio. For just a little more, you get full 1080p picture and LOSSLESS audio (with blu-ray anyway). Its not even a comparison, with Blu-Ray, it is likely the highest quality we'll see for 15-20 years. People who own 35mm projection systems at their home, have compared some of the TOP blu-ray movies with the actual 35mm film, and its said to be less then 5% difference in picture quality, and the Lossless audio on blu-ray is BETTER then what is played in the theaters, since there is no compression, they give you the exact master they have untouched.
I skipped DVD movies entirely knowing that HD movies would show up one day, and here they are. Now i am happily building up my collection since everything coming out, Day/Date and Catalog is a NEW movie to me. Its awesome. I never settled and obviously i benefited from not owning a obsolete and crappy DVD collection now due to that. Yay for me, and YAY for Blu-Ray.
Good for you, but as for me, I'll keep buying normal DVDs for $5 or so each until BR players are under $100 and BR movies are UNDER $15 each w/o a 'sale price' or other special offer. I don't need the latest and greatest because that also means more expensive than I'm willing to pay for. I waited till VHS was in its final throes of death before I re-bought the movies I actually wanted to see on DVD on DVDs.
I don't have an hdtv, don't care to buy one of those until they're under $200 for the size I only need for my small room(20 inch size). Once that happens, then I may consider hd movies, till then, I'm happy with 'crappy DVD'.
