Blu-Ray Movies for $9.99 or less after $10off Google Checkout and mail in rebate

plastikpyro

CAGiversary!
I didn't see this anywhere and hope it's not a double post...
If you have a PS3 and want to feed it some shiny new Blu-Ray movies here's your chance to do it cheap! CAG style! Inside every brand new PS3 box is a coupon book with $10 rebates for select Blu-Ray movies from each of the studios supporting the new format. Using in combination the $10off Google checkout and $10 rebate you can potentially get a new Blu-Ray movie for $9.99 or less. Also Buy.com has free shipping for most of their Blu-Ray movies and any orders $25.00 or more.

Here are some deals I've scored at Buy.com:
(S)Shipping (T)Tax (GC)Google Checkout (MIR)Mail in Rebate

GoodFellas
$19.50 + $2.40(S) + $1.70(T) - $10(GC) = $13.60 - $10(MIR) = $3.60

Terminator 2
$19.94 + $2.40(S) +$1.89(T) - $10(GC) = $14.23 - $10(MIR) = 4.23

Superman Returns
$26.99 +$2.09(T) - $10(GC) = $19.08 - $10(MIR) = $9.08

Mission Imposible III
$29.96 + $2.17(T) - $10(GC) = $22.13 - $10(MIR) = $12.13

X3 Last Stand
$29.99 + 2.32(T) - $10(GC) = $22.31 - $10(MIR) = $12.31

Cutting the UPC to redeem the $10 rebates definately sucks. Printing these covers will help ease the pain.
Scans have been retouched and properly sized. Just download and print on semi gloss photo paper and your set.

Just remember, you have to CUT your UPC out of the disc....making MANY collectors angry.

I still think I may get the Descent with my rebate (although, I'm hoping LionsGate jumps to HD-DVD soon...rumor is they are)

yea the missing UPC is going to be a b!tch but I plan to make high res scans of the original covers (before cutting) and reprint them on nice photo paper. I'll be sure to post them on here for others to use.

I scanned, retouched and properly sized the original covers for Superman, Mission Impossible 3, Xmen 3 and Terminator 2. I'll upload them if anyone is interested. I printed them using an HP C5180 on semi gloss paper and they came out awsome!

I'm in for the following:

Goodfellas ($1.90 a/r)
Underworld Evolution ($5.99 a/r)
Terminator 2 ($2.34 a/r)
Mission Impossible 3 ($8.99 a/r)

I was gonna try for one more, Enemy of the State, but Google checkout keeps kicking it out for some reason. I'll give these a day or two to process and try again. Thanks OP! :)

how do you download the covers off of that site? i can't seem to find the link on the page. i'm trying to get goodfellas by the way.

yea you gotta scroll down through all the bullsh!t ads and click on "Download for free with FileFactory Basic"

Anyway you can post those scans again? The only one that was working was Goodfellas. I ordered them knowing you had the scans because I didn't want to cut the UPC out of the real one. I need Terminator, Superman, and MI III. It was coming up that it was deleted or expired. It would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

yea I'll repost them later tonight. Just so you know...your suppose to use the scans to reprint the covers to replace the original one that you had to cut the UPC out of. Don't try sending in the reprinted one because they might not redeem your rebate.

You definetely get an A for effort :) However - ever since the google checkout only applies to NEW accounts / 1 time usage - (and in order to circumvent you need to create a new account each time as user 'abhinav' points out) this isn't as much of an enticement as it used to be. I've been sticking to the Amazon 10 % off w/HD "membership".

Ok thanks though. Just let me know when they are reposted. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know the Mission Impossible set (the one with all three movies) qualify this rebate? Thanks in advance...

Oh, so basically, the rebate is good only the movies pictured? I was thinking about getting Phantom of the Opera for the rebate, but i don't think that will work, yes?

I've heard that a couple of people have been able to get away with just using the Proof of Purchases. Has anybody here tried that?
i just bought my PS3 and there where no rebates inside, how do I get them?
They would be in a little blue booklet. But if you only get it with the PS3, so if you don't have it in your box you can't get any rebates. Looks like they were only included with maybe just the first million ps3s or so.

Dont bother with the T2 BD transfer, it sucks. Plus, its the theatrical cut.

The T2 Extreme extended cut of the movie is far better, both visually and movie-wise due to its longer run time.

Thanks for the heads up, thats one i'm not ordering then. When does this google checkout thing expire anyway?

The T2 transfer isn't that bad. And for the price you can get it with google checkout and the rebate it's worth it.

Edit: Here is a review: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/terminator2.html
Also check out the AVS boards for more information on how good or bad the transfer is.

The T2 Ultimate Edition extra extended cut is an even better cut than the regular extended cut. Ultimate edition also has all 3 versions, theatrical, extended, the other extended one thats not in T2 Extreme as well as the best extras of any release.

Also, you can make the argument that the extreme edition has a better cut, but extreme edition does not look better visually than the T2 BD.

Here's a qoute from hi def dvd digest:
"Yes, the picture is really quite good and it's a clear upgrade over the previous standard DVD editions. "

And for $2 after mail in rebate and google checkout for my favorite movie, i didnt have any problem triple dipping.

depends on your screen size and how much $15+ bucks means to you. On a good upscaling DVD player with a good scaler, I'd rather watch the Extreme or Ultimate editions over the BD theatrical cut, mostly because the BD version could have been so, so much better...but isn't.

So why spend the bucks for half-assed when you know they'll release a REALLY good version in a year or so, and then you'll be dipping again....??

It is true I don't like dipping either but for $2 bucks after rebate I had to bite.

I have a couple of questions:

1. How many times can you use Google Checkout?

2. Will the printed covers actually work? Can anyone confirm this?

3. How's Goodfellas?

That's about it. I'm a bit worried because I don't have alot of money. I mostly have enough for 2 games and 1 $30 Blu-Ray movie (Casino Royale). I'm sure I'll have enough for 2 or 3 of these movies though. Thanks in advance!

1. You can use Google checkout as many times as you want to get the $10 off as long as you use a new email address each time.
2. The printed covers are to replace the old ones that you cut the UPC off of. That's what the OP originally put them up for.
3. Goodfellas is an amazing movie and the transfer is pretty good.

Yea - I watched the BD version the other day and listened to the director commentary. They kept referring to the parts added to the Special Edition - and I didn't see the corrsponding video so I began to wonder whether the Blu-ray version was just the theatrical cut. I have the DVD T2 Extreme edition (I think that's it - its the one with the close-up of the metal face) but its not opened yet - is it worth keeping that version too?

The official site says that "more titles will be added throughout the promotion." Has anybody seen this actually happen?
The official site says that "more titles will be added throughout the department." Has anybody seen this actually happen?
Someone on AVS called or emailed them and they were told that there actually isn't going to be any more movies added so I wouldnt hold your breathe.

Well i finally bit on tomb raider, Terminator and jay and silent bob which will come out to around $3 each after mail and rebates. I already ordered Xmen from amazon so that makes 4 movies.

If my first four movies ship then i will try and get Underworld evolution and Superman (or goodfellas i am still on the fence about that one)

anyways thanks for the help CAG! Blu Ray movies for $4 owns!

Goodfellas has good PQ and looks fantastic on BR and it's definately alot better then the old flipper DVD with 2 sides. The movies I picked up were very good in PQ with the exception of Superman being soft and T2 looking grainier on 1080p then it did on SD and the Extreme WMV HD version

Thanks,
