Boozer skrews the Cavs over

CAGiversary!
Utah agreed to a contract with Carlos Boozer, ESPN said, continuing a week in which the Jazz reportedly worked out deals with Mehmet Okur, Carlos Arroyo and Gordan Giricek. How did the Cavaliers lose their hold on Boozer? Cleveland Plain Dealer broke down the scenario before Thursday's news broke. If the Cavaliers and Pistons can't match offers for Boozer and Okur, the duo would join All-Star Andrei Kirilenko to form a stellar front line in Utah, with a healthy Matt Harpring somehow working his way into the mix

Boozer and his agent promises to resign with the Cavs when he was cut loose of his final year of his contract so he can obtain a raise (Cavs mid-level exception) because Boozer is due for about 700k if he had stayed with his contract. Business is business I guess  Crushing blow to the Cavs frontcourt if they don't match the offer

Kinda sets the Cavs back a step or two doesn't it? However, there's still a gold mine of free agents available, who knows maybe Kenyon Martin is now in the Cavs future. Think about it, he played for Cincinnati in college, that's not too far from Cleveland. Plus he was born in Saginaw, Michigan, and Michigan is right next to Ohio, and we don't want him here (Michigan) so why not go to the Cavs?

6 years 68 million. And the overpaying of free agents continues.

Yeah, he straight fucked Cleveland, but for $28 million more, I don't think you can blame the guy. I'm not sure if living in Utah for 6 years is worth the extra 28 million though.

Jerry Sloan was probably a big factor.

also I do not see how this guy gets more money than Nash

Boozer's a lot smarter than he looks. His new contract is worth a load more than the mid-level exception he was going to get from Cleveland, and I'm hard pressed to think that anyone here would have the resolve to turn down that kind of money.

BTW, Nash doesn't get more money because he's ten years older. Besides, don't feel bad for Nash, because his contract is worth more in Canadian $.
I'd have to agree. Cleveland fans of any professional sport should be used to getting the shaft by now.
I like to see a Cleveland team win something (within my lifetime!) I mean, its happened in the past with the Cleveland Browns (Otto Graham, Jim Brown eras).

Cleveland did win the draft lottery last year, so at least you guys won something.

Boozer leaving does set Cleveland back a step. LeBron will now have to learn to play along with his replace instead of just picking up where he and Boozer left off last season. It's a shame too, LeBron and Boozer both showed a lot of promise. I hope Clevelend does decide to match the offer and at least fight to keep him instead of letting him walk.

I will end up hating the Mavs if they trade away Dirk.

no way he will sign with the Cavs for the mid-level exception because he is looking for a max deal

Ya, I found out that the Cavs only have a mid-level exception, for God knows what reason. Anyway they'd be smart to trade away Ilgauskas, to open up some cap room and start building the team around LeBron.
