I'm proud of myself for being able to put in a bid at about 5 secs remaining, after reading a hint from CAG about opening two windows, one for refreshing status and one for having a ready bid. I was so mad I lost a couple days ago with a $96 bid on one of these, but now I finally get one.

Now if only the used one I bought on CAG comes in the mail before the ebay one, to stop me from the temptation of opening this up, I'd be all good to go.

I can't believe how much that game goes for! I'm just happy to have a burnt copy.
If I ever paid that much for a game, my wife would slaughter me and sell my vital organs to pay the bill. I envy you.
*Ditto* Just change wife to girlfriend and "I envy you" to "I paid $16 for my copy".

Why not use auctionsniper.com? Even after the first 3 free ones if you don't earn any more free from referrals they're only $0.25 each.

We do not condone piracy here. If you pirate, at least don't write about it.

Good God! I don't think I could ever pay that exorbant amount of money for a game. Maybe for the Steel Battelion complete but not for this. I'll just wait, bide my time, and pick one up when it pops in at a GS, GC, GR, EB, etc.

Well, pay it, play it, resell it. Then you don't lose anything. Something that rare will continue to have a high auction price.

True, but this copy was sealed...

damn tahts half the price of a ps2. what a freakin rip off. i know the game's fun, but why are people really shelling out this much money for a game they could have bought b4 it became rare?

i condone piracy. congrats to apossum. hes the only smart one in the bunch.(i'll be damned if im paying that much for an old out dated game)

I agree with everyone else...that's a lot of money to spend on one game, especially since it's kinda old and it's a rhythm game. But on the plus side it's a sealed copy which is important if you're a collector. I don't understand it though - games can only be enjoyed if you open and play it.

Wow. I bought this at CC for $10 new (back before your fancy shmancy $5 CC sales). Is this the current going rate for sealed Gitaroo Mans?

I think that's actually the average price for a used one. New ones usually go more. I will stick to my $15 copy, even if it was used.

i too am happy that you have a burnt copy
i don't understand.. the whole "modding" rule around here.. i've seen some pretty cool cosmetic system mods.. and some people mod so they can back up their games and keep them in fairly prestine M/NM condidition but whatever.. if you're going to import you almost have to buy "pirated" copies.. unless you want to be shelling out buttloads of money for shitty games.. but whatever.. i'm not saying go all out and pirate but its like the cd arguement.. i cant afford to purchase all the music i want to listen to so if i download a couple songs/cds but still buy others i don't know..

and besides.. because of places like blockbuster and netflix and gamefly .. none of these game makers are losing any money on a small percentage of the population that does pirate.. i mean.. go to your blockbuster.. and see the 20 copies of Halo 2 they bought the day it came out.. are you saying they got a discount?.. i'm sure they did.. but i mean.. come on..

but to stay to the topic.. 80 bucks is hardly CAG like.. and very buttraped price for a game that there is probably a reason its "rare"

o well..
soon to be banned

Until you learn how grammar and capitalization work, you're the brother of retardation.

First of all import are not the same as pirated copy. The company still get their money. Well rental place actually have to pay for the copy they rent out. If it is anything like movie DVD, they have to pay more for the copy they rent out, and sometimes they make deal with the company like getting Star Fox early.

$80 is a good deal on a game that has great collector's value.

So you already had a copy coming to you in the mail and you blew 100 bucks extra to get a sealed copy to sit on the shelf? I guess some people go overboard with the whole collecting thing. :?

Yeah, I did go overboard a bit tracking down gitaroo-man, but I have a long history of close calls with gitaroo-man, where I almost bought it on at least ten different occasions for various prices B&M and on-line. I just happened to have set this particular one on watch for s!!tz and giggles while I waited for my used copy to come when I noticed the price was a bit low near the end of the auction. The used one coming in has a couple of scratches, and I wanted a flawless one.

At least I wasn't as bad as this guy.

wow 81.00 Great buy on that game. I sold one that i got from a video store with rental stickers all over it for 74.51 back around xmas. a sealed for 7 bucks more is a great buy... I hope they sell it to you. I got in on some great buys on ebay this past month and 2 of the Super buys i got an email from the seller...

Email::: ummmm I forgot to take this auction down and the item is no longer for sale Sorry...

i emailed ebay about it but they said there is nothing that can be done to force someone to sell you something

For all you masochists claiming you have never paid near $80 for a game, you must have never owned a Super Nintendo or Nintendo 64.

Chrono Trigger MSRP $80
Street Fighter II (8 Player version even!) MSRP $75

The price tag on my Sealed Majora's Mask: $90

Would you have rather have 2, 3 or 4 decent games or 1 great game!

I'll pay for the one great game and gloat what I got for the money.

Quality Games, not Quantity.

Congrats original poster. I solute you.

I can remember purchasing Chrono new at the regular price of $60 back then and $50 for Majora. Of course, I'm guessing you are talking about purchasing them when they came out.

A lot of people do go on and on about how carts were so expensive back in the day. I guess it really depends on where you bought them, and perhaps in what part of the country you lived. I'm in Missouri, and I know that when I bought Final Fantasy III for the SNES right when it came out back in '94 I think, I paid $60 for it at Walmart. Babbages, though, sold it for $80. So, while I don't doubt those who claim the high prices, it wasn't like that everywhere.

And to the OP. I paid $55, I think, for Gitaroo Man the day it came out from GameStop; the bastards that they are priced about everything $5 over MSRP. At least that tends not to be the case for most games anymore. But for you to get it years later, sealed, for not too much more is a great deal. It's one of my favorite games.

blah blah blah don't condone piracy blah blah blah

Great! I never pass up a chance to defend "piracy" :D

I don't condone "piracy" either. I do condone burning games to try before you buy so you don't go spending a whole bunch on a piece of junk. especially $80-100 on fuggin' gitaroo man Fun game- yes. worth that much money-- only to a collector.

Anybody with a good head on their shoulders knows that this game is just a good collectors item, that the gameplay is NOT worth $100, especially considering there are games like it that do it better. It's PURE HYPE.

people started talking about it, somebody said "oooh it's rare" and then people jumped all over it after the fact. I think the same thing will happen with Ico. anyway, end rant....I vow to never mention piracy again ;)

Can you just go away... you're slowly becoming the most hated CAG in history. Enjoy being remembered with cloudspekk, DLF, and MWL...

Yeah, but most rental stores only carry the new popular games, which are almost always checked out. You are still paying money to a middleman who is gouging the hell out of you.
