WHOS CUISINE WILL REIGN SUPREME!

I hesitated for a moment and almost voted for Madea to repeat this weekend, but im putting my faith in Ultraviolet and Milla Jovovich. Heck, Evolution: Underworld was number one its opening weekend, why not Ultraviolet?

This week's tougher to pick. It'll be between Ultraviolet and 16 Blocks I think. Both have quite a bit of mainstream appeal, so I could see either of them making number 1, but at the same time can't really see either of them making much more than about $21 million, tops.

Dave Chappelle's Block Party would've been number 1 if Focus had released it in more than 800 theaters, for fucks sake. Come on, people, it's called capitalism.

Aquamarine will flop due to lack of advertising and lack of interest and quality.

Madea may also have a chance at #1, but if you judge by his last film and this weekend's big numbers for it, most of his audience probably already went, so it's doubtful.

The rest of them are in limited release or have been out too long, so no chance at #1 either.

My pick?
Ultraviolet

This is a tough one this week. Its definitely either Block Party or Ultraviolet but I dont know which one to choose. I wanna say Block Party but then I see an Ultraviolet commercial and it looks totally awesome. Hmm.

Also, if you recall I suggested making this a weekly contest sort of thing. Well what if it was more like a fantasy league type of deal where you get points based on your weekly guesses. For example, you only get points based on if you're choice made the top 5. So if you guessed the number 1 movie you may get 10 points. But if you guessed a movie that came in 8th you may get -8 points? I'm not sure how that would all work out but you get the drift.

This isnt a bad idea. Im all for it if theres enough call for it, no problem.

Tomorows the big day. Some friends and I are going to see Dave Chappelles Block Party, even though it goes against my vote :D

I had to go with Ultraviolet since its the one I'll be seeing this weekend ;). And also, I have my choice for March 17th already ..

V For Vendetta!

I got the graphic novel about a week ago and I'm pumped after reading it. I cant fucking wait!
Think! Think! Which one is the shittiest...?
 and the answer is all of them.

But since I know that girlfriend will want to go to the movies I will probably will be going to see Block Party because when she has a stressful week I like for her to get a laugh to relax I know that helps me.

It'll probably be Ultraviolet just because they've done so much marketing for it. 16 Blocks could also take it because it has more theatres and Chappelle's Block Party would def. take it if they actually breached the 2000 theatre mark, but with 1200 it still has a real slim shot at the title for the weekend.
Still no Tomatometer rating for UV.... it's probably gonna suck. :(
Ya, exactly!!!!!!

I'm shocked so many people wanna see it seeing as how it hasn't been shown to enough critics yet.

Block party has like 90 reviews(mostly good) + UV only has like 10.

Our general audience is different from the rest of the nation so Madea will easily be nuber one again (we have eight showings of it all at once and they all sell out!), but I wouldn't be surprised to see Chappelle get number one here either.

Friday Estimates:
16 BLOCKS 3.8 3.8
MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION 3.6 38.7
ULTRAVIOLET 3.4 3.4
DAVE CHAPPELLE'S BLOCK PARTY 2.7 2.7
EIGHT BELOW 2.5 51.0
AQUAMARINE 2.1 2.1
PINK PANTHER, THE 1.8 65.6
DATE MOVIE 1.7 37.3
FIREWALL 1.1 40.0
CURIOUS GEORGE .9 45.7

Looks like it's gonna be a close tie between 16, Madea, and Violet. I hope my guess was right and Ultraviolet comes out on top.

Those are some close numbers Will. Looks like its going to be an interesting Saturday. I didnt get to see Block Party cause its not playing here.

I have little doubt, don't get me wrong I like Kurt Wimmer's style and loved Equilibrium, but the decision to write a movie designed for Milla Jovovich (who's acting is sketchy at best) because you saw her in the RE movie is a formula for disaster. Let's face it, Bale's acting def. helped out Equilirium, and while the trailers make it look stylisitic and flashy just like Equilibrium was, they also make the film look like it may be super-cheesy.

WHOA! Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner, the only person to predict that Madea's Family Reunion would repeat last weeks performance: captaincold. Here are the box office results for this weekend:
