Bragging rights! you want bragging rights? I got Little Big Planet:The Recalled Ed.

ricoraney

CAGiversary!
Got a copy today! I was just randomly talking to a guy standing in line at TRU about different titles that were coming out and he mentioned to me that LBP was being pushed back because of some controversy. First I had heard of it. He then went on to say how he called this Mom and Pop store a town over from where we were and they had it. I knew the exact store he was speaking of. I jumped out of line and shot over there. Lo and Behold! Little Big Planet: The Recalled Edition. I picked up two copies. I am going to crack open that PS3 tonight! Had it since Christmas but never opened it. Been accumulating titles all year, but just didn't want another system opened up yet. Gotta start soon though. I checked Amazon.com and they already have the new release date as Nov. 4, 2008.

It'll be a real great deal when Sony disables the unpatched version via a firmware update! Congrats!:D

Oh wait...

It would be kind of awesome if sony killed the online funcionality of "unathorized" copies. I wonder if they have the balls to do that.

I bet they don't.

I dont know what they will be doing to fix it. My guess is a patch that you have to download. We have had boxes of LBP at work (Best Buy) for about 2 weeks now.

Yeah, 'Sniff, Sniff' thats hatorade on your breath.
i smell a dirty dick. that's all i smell.
Why? Is your mother in the room?
First of all, that comment was intended for someone else jackass!

wow. just wow. my mother? i went to my mother and wafted the air around her to discover that she smells like an unwashed penis? and a jackass? i'm a donkey?

i was just kidding by the way. you know? a joke? heard of them? kinda like a guy starting a thread to brag about a game and tell people they smell like "hatoraide". ha-ha funny? no?

I stopped being offended by your comments when I realized that you couldn't spell. Just like I said before, "JACK-ASS" It's spelled 'Hatorade' like 'Gatorade'. Now go wash your mother, because you weren't kiddin'. In fact, I took it as though you were insinuating that maybe I stole them. That is what that dirty dick comment translates to.
Do I smell 'hatorade' on your breath?
LOL. Hatorade. All because you heard of the recall for the first time while standing in a TRU line and then bolted for the door in hopes of grabbing something to sell later. And yes, I am presuming that due to the two copies you bought. I would have found this story infinitely more entertaining if someone had been pulling your chain. Did you jog through the parking lot and speed over there too? LOL. You are too much. Good times.
its recalled?
One of the songs has two lines from the Qu'ran in it. They can't just patch it because not everyone goes online with the PS3. As such they are recalling the disks to put out the non infidel version.

I wonder if Blockbuster still got their copies in yesterday, since I think the delay is only a week now. I wonder if they'll still call me on Tuesday to lemme know to come pick up my pre-ordered game.

Then, I wonder if they'll get the 'fixed' ones the week after and let me know I have ANOTHER copy waiting for me. They'll probably only call me to get me to return the 'naughty' copy and take one of the pussified versions.

Either way, I don't think Sony will do anything to those with the 'bad' games, since some copies are bound to leak out. Personally, I think the whole world has gone a little too PC and needs to grow a giant pair and tell all of these special groups that get 'offended' to go fuck off.

omg sonys not gonna ban these copies from accessing the psn. Jesus... There will be a day 1 patch for the copies that get out.

interesting....doesn't seem like a big deal to me, but I guess it matters to some uptight people.

All GameCrazy stores got them in yesterday.

I guarantee there's going to be a ton of stores that didn't get the memo and will sell it like normal come Tuesday

THANK YOU! I agree 100%

I am sick of people getting upset over stuff like this.
I just want to find the secret burial ground for those 1000s of LBP discs.
Probably the same landfill that the thousands(or more) of copies of ET for the 2600 call their final resting place.

Such a waste, over such a non-issue if you ask me.

I'm off to try Blockbuster in a little while to see if I can convince them to lemme get a copy before Tuesday that just happens to be one of the 'bad' copies.

Tried two blockbusters yesterday... seems like they weren't aware of the recall
However, they were pretty firm on saying it won't be out till the 21st

On my way to the bank this morning I found a copy at a local game shop ^^
I'm planning on visiting best buy on my way out to see if I can still preorder LBP; it is only 5 dollars down right and they give you the Nariko costume code right there right?
Also, I can just cancel the preorder and surrender my 5 bucks (but still keep the costume?)

My assumption is that Sony wouldn't disable early release of LBP from online play; if they do decide to lock early releases out then I am pretty sure I could get them to send a replacement (complain my way through... but do I really want a replacement?)
interesting....doesn't seem like a big deal to me, but I guess it matters to some uptight people.
The two offending lines are roughly translated as "every soul shall have the taste of death" and "all that is on earth will perish." After how people flipped their shit after the Resistance thing with Manchester Cathedral, I don't think Sony can be too cautious.

It's hard not to be annoyed without a good understanding of Islam. I'm honestly glad that they would go to such lengths to respect people, but it's unfortunate for all the people who want the game.

Religion + games= do not mix

However, the lines are spoken and not written. If the lines were in English instead of Arabic, would there be such a furor over them? I mean, the lines could've well been taken from ANY number of sources, since I'm sure there are numerous dark and forboding pieces of literature(like Edgar Allan Poe's works)with such lines in them.

Plus, if the decision to actually include the song was made a while ago, why is it only NOW becoming such a big stink? You would think after the Resistance debacle, among others, that companies would more thoroughly research what is in the media they're putting out.

PLUS, the original person complaining about those lines had a copy of the game EARLY or at least it appeared as if they had the full game early.

So, why isn't Sony just ignoring them since they have a game before it's street date?

Only because I cannot believe it hasn't been done yet.

OMG. Game recalled due to religious reference? It will surely be gold.

Oh wait......

LOL! I actually own Kakuto Chojin! Game is 'Asstastic'. But I think the fact that the game is not coming out until, alledgedly, the week of Oct. 27th, makes it a rare find for the moment. And as far as that date is concerned. I can not see the game be released by that week. I would say late Nov. early Dec.

I wonder how much money they will lose on the disks? Seriously, my local store had stocked up on many copies and they have to send them back. I know like 4 people who already own the game. I bet they will just patch it out online so both versions are compatible.

Im guessing they are trashing the recalled disks and pressing new ones?
I wonder how much money they will lose on the disks?
Sony probably lost quite a bit. My store got 40+ to sell and I know that Hollywood got at least 20 to rent.. blu-rays aren't cheap to produce.

I knew I should have gotten this at Target last week. But I can only imagine there's going to be a required patch... and I'm not going to stay offline to have it unpatched.

this is going for $140-$199 on ebay. I asked a few stores they said they've already shipped their stock back to their distribution center. im sure the people selling these are independent stores since they have the option to not ship it back.

The lady manager who works at my local Blockbuster seems like the type to remain uneducated on a recall.

I only saw one or two copies of the recalled version going for over $100 on Ebay when I just checked. So, there's really not many on there right now. Then again, the game hasn't officially released yet. I'm going to my Blockbuster around closing tonight to see if I can get my copy. I didn't bother yet, since the employees who worked this weekend were gamers and pretty educated on gaming, so they probably know they're not supposed to sell them.

you should only get it before the game comes out if youre planning on selling it. when it comes out, the value of this will most likely go down. and since this will most likely blend with the other, patched version (similar fashion to san andreas hot coffee for the psp), it wont hold its value for very long.

I didn't even think of that. I completely forgot that LBP was on a BD. This really sucks for Sony. I don't see why they did a total recall though. A patch would have been just as good.

You might see them for $100, but the ending price is usually around $150.

Three words. Freedom Of Speech. Obivously they don't want to alienate people but if everything is recalled because it might offend someone nothing, no movies, no games, no music, nothing will be what the creators of it intended. I know it's only a song but still what's next? Oh yah cool about getting the recalled edition. STICK IT THE MAN.

Unfortunately whenever it involves freaking Islam, there always seems to be the risk of someone getting killed over it... there was a big mess over a political cartoon a few years ago... a Dutch filmaker (Theo Van Gogh) was murdered some years back for making a 10 minute film dealing with violence against women in islam societies...
