Battle.net now has a system where you register a key to your Warcraft 3, Diablo 2, Starcraft keys, it will add them to your account and you can download the game client whenever you'd like. I tested it with Starcraft yesterday and it was really quick to download and install.

Sorry man, but this feature has been around for maybe a year now.

However, I don't think many people know about it. So maybe this thread will help inform people.

Personally I went on and registered all my CD-keys. It makes it a lot easier than discs.

I think your right, but it wasn't with battle.net, it was with blizzard store. All blizzard accounts are automatically converted to b.net though according to the site.

The transition must had happened recently. Anyways, it looks even better than before.

Ohhhh... ok yeah you are right.

I guess my mind just covered over that small detail.

I went ahead and log in to the site. It gave me the option to merge my WoW account and Blizzard account, so I went ahead and did that.

Very sexy, Blizzard :D

I wish every major publisher did this with retail PC games. No client, no b.s. Just register and download from a website.

Think I'll have to finally finish the Brood Wars campaign this weekend. How can I call myself a PC gamer without having finishing the friggn' StarCraft campaign :whistle2:#

I could never beat the last Terran mission, so I never moved onto the other campaigns.

I merged my WoW account the other day, but I don't have any other games to merge. I tried Diablo II a few years ago, but my computer coughed up a lung trying to run it, and it disappeared shortly after.

:shame:

I did this when Kotaku posted about Blizzard's new Bnet site a little bit ago.. I downloaded Starcraft and tried to get back into it but it seemed kinda boring. Maybe I just need to give it more time, play online a bit. Also, holy low resolution, Batman!

I noticed that too when I logged into my WoW account.

I haven't been able to get Diablo II to run without the CD so I'll finally get around to just putting in my keys and downloading it. Save me some trouble. Thanks OP.

I had the same issue.. although it looks like WC II doesn't work with this. That was the game that got me into RTS games..

I call myself a PC gamer without having finished the friggin' StarCraft campaign just fine. A few thousand matches of StarCraft multi-player makes up for it, right?

Took me forever cuz I suck at Starcraft.

I'll have to find time to check out this new bnet stuff. I think I might even have a copy of WC3 somewhere... I can't remember :\

haha very much so. but I've had StarCraft for like 6 years without having played a single match online or finishing the campaign. just sad

Wow this is crazy! I keep all ym CD keys in a txt file on my computer but long ago abandoned my old game CDs. Now I can install Starcraft and play it again after I have got the hankering to try it out again since I have been watching a lot of starcraft matches on youtube. And since I have all my CD keys but the CDs are all the way across the country, I still have a way to download and install the game!

Nuts!

Ruahrc

I put all my games on it. I love it. I still have the CDs, but it's so much easier to download them and not need to put the CD in the drive.

Hey same boat as you I just liked the MP b/c you start from scratch and play through from there. Even got BW but never touched the campaign lol. Glad to know this, I knew something of the blizzard store allowing you to register your keys to d/l client but nice to have the b.net

so this works kind of like Steam right? I have a deactivated WoW account I could try. Only played it for like a month haha

i started the SC campaign last week.

oh man
i lol'ed at the mineral placements and the gas-only expansions

Yea - I already got D2 + LOD on this, I gotta do the rest.

It's so annoying have these OLD games where their CD Keys are long gone or you're missing 1 of the CD's ect. This is very nice.
