Everyone else is making stupid god damn threads, so I'll join the party. And maybe y'all will learn a thing or two before this is over.

So. Snake. A lot of us having been wondering if he's For Reals. I've openly speculated that, just as rumblebear is a parody of American liberals, solid snake is a parody of young libertarians. Strell has pondered aloud the possibility that he is the alt account - perhaps JSP's doing, or whoknows. And if you haven't said any of the above, you've certainly thought to yourself: is this real? Are we being trolled?

Without an answer to this question, we can not have an actual discussion with him. You simply can not debate someone you believe is being dishonest. So.

No, we are not being trolled. According to the evidence before me, solid snake is not an alt account, and the views he expresses are the views he believes. He is a libertarian, gun lover, and owner of a very mediocre webcam. He's something of a "car guy". He likes Metal Gear Solid (duh), Call of Duty, HAWX, and Mad World. He likes cats. He has a big-ass "Don't Tread On Me" flag. He prefers the feel of the 360's analog sticks to the PS3's. He is white.

He also appears to be old enough to vote, though I can't quite confirm. Sorry, SpazX.

Any questions?

Question: During you first playthrough of MGS1 did you get the Meryl or Otacon ending?

I chose to go with the Otacon one so I could get the camo.

I only hope that he's not old enough to vote because he can barely write a coherent sentence. I'm hoping he's at best 15.

When I saw how much it bothered some of you it just empowered me, it was to get Ron's name out at first though.

You realize it's counter-acting your initial goal (supporting Ron Paul), right?

Also, I went with Meryl first for some bizarre fucking reason. fuck the bandana, yo.

See, that had me really worried, but he appears to be a legitimate libertarian. He may be laying things on a bit thicker than he normally would, but still.

I am leaning that way as well.

Quite frankly, I think most libertarians are as nut as he is. They just hide it in mixed company.

There is nothing nutty about libertarians not to say there aren't nutty people in the world of every political out look, but what the main ideal of libertarianism comes down to is believing the role of govt. is nothing other than to protect the peoples rights and that govt. must be restricted only to that or it may become counter productive to the peoples interests and freedom. In other words if your not infringing on some one elses rights or hurting any one but your self you should be aloud to do it. Alot of the reason libertarianism appeals to people is because if we could implement those ideals we would be living in simpler time. the reason alot of people see some of libertarianism points as crazy is because we've never had that amount of freedom we are use to the way things have been.

Simple does not mean better. When people were "free-er" in the past, money meant freedom. The more money, the more free you were to do what ever you wanted. Dump toxic chemicals in the water supply? Sure. Beat your workers? They'll work harder if you do. And best of all, children are best because they can go into smaller holes.

This is what happens when you introduce "more freedom" within the capitalistic framework. Seriously, what the fuck did they teach you about colonialism through Reagan in school?

How can you even define what "more personal liberty" is when you can't even define when your own "liberty" is encroaching on someone else's? All you are is a fucking tool.

I have a lot of alcohol in me, just saying. But no matter how much I have drank tonight, I still am not off kilter enough to see the logic in snake. At least in turbo there was a hint of reasonableness. This is like a brick wall.

How can you have a small government that still protects people's rights?

I think we just need to draft a new constitution as we've already outgrown the current one and barely hold to it anymore anyways. Even those that claim to want a constitutional govt should realize that it's out of touch with the modern world.

Of course now we'll get to draft it to blatantly outlaw gay marriage since that's apparently not constitutional and needs an ammendment, even though straight marriage isn't ever mentioned in the constitution or marrying your toaster either.

its more so our govt is out of touch with the constitution, and in my opinion the govt has no place in marriages of any kind its through religion/God what ever you follow etc. not the govt.

well if you think a govt that protects the citizens rights and nothing else is not small tell me your definition of what a small govt. is and what its role should be in our system.

There is a video called the philosophy of liberty watch it if you want, it explains alot about mankind's basic natural rights and govts place in the mix.

Rights that all men are born with, your right to life and liberty, the right to speak freely, defend your self, claim ownership over your property.

Funny that you use the word "men" and assume that property rights are self-determined (they actually aren't...shhh).

Men as in mankind, and please eleborate... the way see it if you put work into something create build or labor for something then it is yours. Or what are you trying to say?

No. The question is what are YOU trying to say? Are you saying that the laborer should own the products of their labor? Kinda like owning the means of production? Sounds like "socialism" to me.

From a practical standpoint this is rare in our modern economic system. It's the mythos of capitalism. The reality is that most of us aren't growing corn and selling it at a corner market.

The only reason it no longer works as it should is because of the endless permits, laws , restrictions etc. on our suppose to be free market.

Our govt. is making and has been making the same mistakes that Egypt made. That dude set him self on fire because the cops wouldn't let him sell veggies off a cart with out a permit and was one of the main inspirations for the revolution.

Say I am a t.v. repair man, I am agreeing to sell the product of my labor to you. the product of your liberty is your property, then some one taking that with out your consent or agreement to give, trade, or sell for a wage is theft.
I don't think that's socialism its jut the fact how things are and it works that way no matter what you want to call it.

Wut? This is so dumb, I don't even know what to say. Those regulations are there to make sure that the food you eat doesn't kill you. If you want to discuss the barrier to entry, there you have corporate farms that pay bottom dollars wages with the market share to price out local growers. Who do you think gives politicians the ideas for legislation anyways? The tooth fairy?

Holy shit. Did you just co-opt the Tunisian Revolution for the libertarians? That guy that set himself on fire didn't do it because he wanted to sell fruit, he did it because the economic problems of the country because he couldn't find work as a COLLEGE EDUCATED person. It was a last ditch effort to feed his destitute family. The permit problems was a mere symptom of the under-lying socio-economic class issues. WTF man.

There you go with the "liberty" thing again. So if Best Buy pays someone $10 an hour to install ram and charges the customer $100 just for the labor and not the module, do you still call that theft if it costs Best Buy $40 to cover infrastructure costs?

As for the best buy thing, no ones forcing you to do it you are there by consent under your own free will and agreement and being paid no forced to work there, you can ask for a raise and or work some where else.

And the guy that set him self on fire did it because he couldn't even make money selling fruit because the govt. was so oppressive.

So what you're saying is that it's ok to rip someone off as long as they agree to it.

I guess there isn't much equality in Libertopia. Which is a direct contradiction of what Paine stood for. If you DID read Common Sence, then you'd know that he spent the ENTIRE FIRST CHAPTER talking about equity and classism.:bomb:

And the guy that set him self on fire did it because he couldn't even make money selling fruit because the govt. was so oppressive.
AND WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THE OPPRESSION? Just to be bureaucratic dickheads for the sake of being bureaucratic dickheads? Why are you being so fucking obtuse.
And the guy that set him self on fire did it because he couldn't even make money selling fruit because the govt. was so oppressive.
Corrupt. Not oppressive, corrupt.

It's a good thing American lawmakers are completely immune to the millions of campaign dollars and fact-finding boondoggles that Wall Street dangles in front of them every year.
When I saw how much it bothered some of you it just empowered me, it was to get Ron's name out at first though.
That's nice. Nobody knows who Ron Paul is, so you go ahead and spread the gospel. He's just a ghost in the media and on the internet.

;)

Ron Paul makes those salad dressings that are more expensive than non-Ron Paul salad dressings but don't taste as good. Also I think they are in glass containers. I guess Ron Paul is too good for plastic, which we all know is squeezable and less likely to be used as a deadly weapon should a burglar come into your house and arm himself with your salad dressing.

See, I know who he is.
