Brown DSiXL going clearance.

DSi's are all out dated and with being able to pick up a 3ds for the same price, (various websites), there is no real reason to jump on these imho. Unless they ever make it to the $50 range.

Thanks for the update tho!

You cant compare the DSI XL to the regular small 3DS. The dsi XL is a tank. The first 3DS is like tissue paper by comparison. Now the 3DS XL is very nice. and seems very durable but I would still say the DSI XL Seems more solid. Note I have all 3

I've been thinking about getting a 3DS XL. Would a DSi XL be worth it when upgrading from a DS Lite?

The only things stopping me from getting a DSi XL is there's a few 3DS games that I want. Also, I heard that DS games don't look as good on the DSi XL compared to a DS Lite.

Heard if you look close enough on DSi XL you can see the pixels. Is this the same case with the 3DS XL?

I never had a problem with the larger screens, their amazing. I played Dragon Quest on it once I bought it just to drool... and to find out I don't like Dragon Quest >__>

If you think you'll get into 3DS games, then I'd save my pennies, probably. I don't foresee investing heavily into traditional handhelds any more. My PSP is a DJ Max Portable machine and my DSi XL gets poked at for 3D Picross now and again.

best of luck finding a 3ds xl for 110

how can you also call DSI outdated when most of the better DS games are DSI and very few MUST PLAY 3ds games when the system is almost 2 years old

I went from a DS lite to a blue XL after I got a launch 3DS. I wasn't a fan of the 3DS, and as far as worth the upgrade, most definitely. The lite was a great handheld, but the XL exceeds it in every way, unless you're really picky about d pads, which most would argue is better in the lite.

It is YMMV. First deal post, my bad.

Also, anotherpoorgamer, as for pixels on the dsiXL, let's be honest, every DS game is going to look pixaleted to a degree right? Unless you're oddly a graphics whore for DS games (is there such a thing?) it shouldn't really bother you. Then again, I don't sit with the thing 5 inches from my face like some lol.

I've been wanting a DSi XL for sometime now, but apparently missed the ones that went on clearance at one of my local Sears and they were the only one that did clearance. They're still regular price at the others, so I'm still waiting for a more permanent drop on them.

Thanks though OP.

Yeah, I'm just wondering if the 3DS XL is the same as the DSi XL when it comes to playing DS games. If DS games look the same on both the 3DS XL and the DSi XL handhelds, I'll get a 3DS XL just for those few 3DS games that interest me.

I probably should find a way to try out the same DS game on both the 3DS XL and the DSi XL. Maybe my local Gamestop will let me do side by side comparison.

Ds games still look better on the Dsi XL, imo. Side by side, full screen, ds games on the 3ds XL are fuzzier, grainier and darker than the old xl. The old xl has a cooler color temperature than the new one, very white, almost blueish compared to the warmer color of the 3ds XL. I'd say get both and play DS games on the old XL.

^ Yeah I agree, which is what made my decision easy to go for the DSi XL instead of the 3DS or 3DS XL. That's why I'm glad that most 3DS games that are released are also DS games.

When considering DS games, the DSi XL is the best way to play them. And there are tons upon tons of fantastic DS games to play. I love my XL and I hope it never breaks, I may buy another XL just in case for the future, as any form of emulation would make the experience less enjoyable.

I hope mine doesn't break! You've got me worried now though lol. You really think its worth buying NOW as opposed to waiting a year or so for a lower price? I mean 110 for a back up system is still sort of a pricey investment. To my wallet anyway.

I've got a brown XL, and DS games look great. The screens are better than the DS lite, and the 3DS...BUT I guess the 3DS XL at least blows up DS games to the full height? (Black bars on the sides?)

If so...yeah, realistically I'll just be using my 3DS XL because I'm too lazy to switch back and forth when I change formats, and half the time don't remember which format I'm playing anyway lol

If only the XL had a GBA port...that would push me into buying one.

Call me crazy, I still love the launch DS. Feels sturdy, durable, plays GBA just fine.

^ Yeah, that's the only drawback that had made me hesitant of buying it that I've pretty much come to accept. My DS was stolen years back (hated that since I had so many GBA games) and I haven't gotten around to replacing it since. I was considering also getting a DS Lite for the games I do still have, but the retail price is still too high and even higher online.

I'm not one to condone piracy, but let's just say I never have to switch my games to play them all. There are easy ways to make a DSiXL play GBA quite well. I suggest you look in to it if you weren't aware.

I heard the same thing that ds games still look better on the Dsi XL, which is why I'll eventually get one in addition to my 3ds xl. There are also people complaining that the 3ds xl isn't as bright as the original 3ds (which I never owned so I don't know if that's true)
