The Oreo Budget

I'm curious to hear from the people who disagree with this proposal as to why it doesn't make any sense.

What proposal? That people educate themselves as to what their government is doing, and know where their tax money is being spent? I got no problem with that, information is a good thing. I don't know if hammering them with mass produced faxes or emails is inherently beneficial, though; but it's better than nothing, i guess.

I was pleasantly surprised, there was some actual truth in there .
"The federal budget...is your money."

Of course, the implication that the school systems dont' get enough money is totally false--there are billions out there that are not being spent. There certainly are school systems and districts that don't get enough, but that should be solved at the local or state level.

Of course, arguably, the only way federal dollars should be spent is on military/protection/security, because without that, nothing else matters. [And regulating interstate/intercontitental trade, and providing a federal court system.] Rather than using those other cookies to increase federal control of local matters, I'd support sending those cookies back to the people or the states so they can use it as they need on the things their citizens want and need.

As with dtcarson, I'm all for anything that makes people pay more attention to the federal budget and realize that that $400+ billion the Pentagon gets per year is really coming out of you pocket and mine. I don't exactly agree with all the suggestions, but getting anyone to listen and learn about the subject is probably a good thing. The education thing is highly misleading due to it being mostly locally funded, though, obviously.

It is mind boggling how much the Pentagon spends per year, but we all know that hammers aren't cheap (running rate: $100)

In all seriousness, those top five cookies are probably helping to fund super secret Rummy-controlled CIA clone operation inside the Pentagon with only 40 cookies. Fantastic that we now have secret organizatons that are too secret for our own CIA to know about. That's intelligence in action.
