Buffing / Resurfacing a blu-ray disc?

CAGiversary!
So I purchased a new copy of Prince of Persia for the PS3 a few days ago form a liquidating Game Crazy and it turns out the teeth inside the case were broken and the blu-ray was bouncing around inside the case. As a result, there are few scratches on the blu-ray.

I'm trying to get exchange for a new copy (I bought the game less than a week ago), but most non-liquidating Game Crazy stores are only offering me a disc buff. Considering that blu-rays are not DVDs and store data closer to the surface, I'm hesitant on letting them rebuff the disc. Should I insist on an exchange for a new copy?

I would insist. I heard you should not buff Blurays as it would destroy them. I'm not certain but...

Yeah I haven't heard the best things about resurfacing a blu-ray either.

I'm just pissed that I bought this game brand new in shrink wrap to end up having it scratched because the interior of the case is broken. Now GC wants to buff it to make everything ok when their policy says I should get an exchange since it's a defective item.

It's pretty tough to scratch a blu-ray, so the disc must have been bouncing around the case a lot for it to have the 2-3 scratches it has now.
