Bush's Iraq speech draws career-low TV audience LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - President Bush's latest address to the nation, urging Americans to stand firm in Iraq, drew the smallest TV audience of his tenure, Nielsen Media Research reported on Wednesday.

Live coverage of Bush's half-hour speech on Tuesday night from the Ft. Bragg military base in North Carolina averaged 23 million viewers combined on four major U.S. broadcast networks and three leading cable news channels, Nielsen said.

Kinda pointless to watch, since his speeches don't even arctually say anything. How he manages to fill half an hour without delivering any real content is amazing. So really, if you've seen one Bush speech, you've seen them all.

I figure that most knew that nothing new would be said.

I found it funny most networks didn't decide to carry it until the last minute.

It's about damn time, People!!!
it's called too little too late.

If they really didn't like him they wouldn't have voted for him. Oh wait they didn't it was rigged. have to keep reminding myself of that.
I was so looking to watching Average Joe before the show was preempted by the President's speech.
I would crack a joke about Bush Jr. being an average president, but that would be insulting to average presidents.

I guess he's got good writers.

I didn't even know he was giving a speech until the day after. I heard some of the highlights and it sounded like a lot of BS.

I watched it, but I was also playing FFIII on my PSP. I feel I accomplished more doing this than by watching the speech alone.

Allow me to recap:

"9/11, 9/11, 9/11, 9/11, 9/11, 9/11, Shut the fuck up and go back to bed, America. Good night."

myke.
...and now you've just saved 28 minutes of time.

No people actually voted for him. Lots of them. Don't blame Bush or Rove for Bush being elected, it was the people.

(speaking from a red state through and through)

I did enjoy one fellow's paraphrased recap of that speech on NPR:

"We're going to stick it out in Iraq...because I'm the President and I SAY we're going to stick it out in Iraq! We don't have a parliamentary government! This isn't opened for debate, and I don't give a !#%! about opinion polls! You're stuck with me until the next election, and I say we're sticking it out! I own Congress (see, I brought it with me in my vest pocket) and they're not going to let out a peep, so buck up 'cause it's going to be a long ride!"

...I don't remember the fellow's name, but he sounded like a crochety old timer to me, and he startled me with his blunt honesty (on public airwaves, no less!) which I also recall went on to predict that:

"...America won't have a chance to change course until the next Presidential election. And do you think we'll switch gears then? No! We're going to keep to this course! Why? Because we weren't duped. We ARE dupes!!"
