I went to the gamestop on west broad in Columbus Ohio today to pick up the 9.99 jungle beats and asked if they were going to have a b2 g1 free sale anytime soon and he said no but they are having a buy 1 get 1 free sale on playstation and Nintendo 64 games. There were not any signs up about this either. Not sure if is a national thing or just going on around here.

About 2 years ago I would say GS told all the stores to stop taking in old gen games and try to get rid of them. What they couldn't get rid of should be sent back to some warehouse for the online store. GS is a little slow and some stores didn't get the memo.

spectreon called me today and told me this is confirmed, but there are very few stores that even have PS1 or N64 games.

This really irks me off, the EBs/GSs around me took their stuff off the shelves ages ago. I wanna stop seeing these types of threads cuz I would love to build on my n64/PSX collection in a cheap way.

This is just breaking my heart in so many ways.

hmm, interesting. i might have to sort through what's left of the cardboard box of ps1 games we have on the floor at my eb. i found a king of fighters the other day, but other than that it was all crappy sports games. and an old grand theft auto. hah.

however, one of the stores around here did have a pretty nice n64 selection. might have to rifle through that and use my discount, maybe.
This is YMMV.
Definately as some stores don't recognize this and a good chunk of them don't even carry them.

Wanna point out that this *MIGHT* include Game Boy games as well. I went into an EB Games on the 23rd and noticed quite a number of them had two stickers on them, the second sticker being a lower price and half of what the other stick says.

If that's the case, I'm so grabbing Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons and the Dragon Warrior games.

My GS just got a NEW shipment of used PS1 games in about 2 weeks ago from another store (including some goodies like Silent Hill 1 for $8 etc)

I would recomend that anyone that has a store local to them that carries at least 20 or more ps1/n64 games or med-high quality games post the location of the store and the op of this thread add them to the first post. might save some bother. Hopefully this will help someone.

The 10 in my area hasn't had a N64 or before game in at least two years. They recalled the older games before June jackass.

Harsh language...especially when your ten stores aren't necessarily representative of much of anything.

Case in point: in the Metro Detroit area, I'd be willing to guess that at least half of the stores I've set foot in still have N64 games, with the larger stand-alone stores more likely to have them than the smaller mall locations.

The fact is, some stores DO have older games and they'll remain in stock until they're either sold, transferred to another store, or destroyed, especially since the online store doesn't stock Nintendo 64 titles anymore.

Actually, ALL EB/GS stores nationwide accepted N64/PSX games in trade until this year. If they didn't have any stock, they were either sending it to other stores or back to corporate, but they were still accepting the games for store credit and most stores were selling them if they received them in trade.

EB/GS PSX/N64 prices suck compared to the 3/$10 sale at all Game Crazy stores right now though. Just tonight I picked up Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Mario Golf, Zelda Ocarina, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart 64, Snowboard Kids, Excitebike 64, Super Smash Bros, DK 64, Starfox 64, South Park Rally, and quite a few other games for $3.33 each. I lucked out and got there right after some one traded in their N64 system and games + a few NES games. I grabbed Mario Bros. Arcade and Donkey Kong Classics for the NES from the same collection.

Some stores still stock them. Just go to gamestop website and do a search for whatever game you want. Just make sure to click the show backorder items thing at the bottom to see them.

Nearby store has lots of good PS1 games like Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy (pretty much all those Square greatest hits titles). They have Wild Arms 1, Breath of Fire 3 and 4, Lunar 1 and 2, and some other junk. Stuff like Lunar is priced cheaper in the store than the website says so your store may be the same way.

And these games work with buy 2 get 1 free deals that go on all the time. Don't recall seeing buy 1 get 1 free though.

It's a somewhat new store so they are heavily stocked. All of them have original case and booklets as well. That's how I found Wizardry for PS2, they had stocked them with most everything when it first opened. They aren't giveaway prices though so don't expect $2.99 prices, the website is accurate with a lot of them and stuff like Lunar is $10 cheaper or something.

One of my GS's has some PS1 and N64 games, most of the PS1 games are teh sux0r and don't even have the manuals. Oh well, I've already gotten all the PS1 games that I want, save Tomba 2 and Klonoa 1, which don't like to appear anywhere, much less at GS

How do you search for backordered games on Gamestop.com or EBgames.com? Someone in this thread mentioned it but I can't find the search option.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it, but it seems you can't search for backordered games unless you get some results.

Just yesterday I picked up:

Gauntlet Legends (PS1, new, marked as used)
Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition (PS1, complete)

The price was $4.49 total after BOGO and 10% off Edge discount. I'm very happy considering Gauntlet Legends is still factory sealed :D

Amazingly, while looking for guides today, I was able to pick up a really nice copy of Persona 2, and as the free one I picked up Breath of Fire IV since it was the closest in price. They had some other stuff I have to go back for...

Just when I thought I would slow down in buying games GS/EB is having this deal and the local stores still have a decent selection of PS and N64 games. Thanks for the info!

If there's a Rhino Games anywhere near you people, they are now considered Gamestop, and are selling PS1/N64 at B1G1 at Gamestop prices. SNES games are 70% off too, at least at my store. Rhino usually has a TON of classic games too. I got Breath of Fire III and IV, Final Fantasy Chronicles and Anthology (all PS1 mint and complete, surprisingly), and Illusion of Gaia SNES (it was only $4.50!), all for a total of $52! However, when I got home I realized they didn't charge me for Illusion of Gaia for some reason, guess they forgot.

Just ignore him like everyone else does.

The EBStop near me dumped all of their PS1 games a few months ago (they never had any N64 games :whistle2:( ). But one a few miles away had a huge bin of them, which I promptly cleaned out, scoring 7 Mario Karts and some other goodies.

The EB stores I have been to for the past 2 years had nothing but garbage in the PS1 section. Incomplete games, usually disc only. The displays would have like 10 games that had the original case (manuals were still rare), but the other 100 games were the generic disc only case with the title written in marker.

Last year I was at Gamestop on the first day of a B1G1 sale. They had a huge bin of several hundred PS1 games. I found Ape Escape complete and mint, but I couldn't even find another game worth the plastic it was made out of to do the deal. I ended up just paying full price for the game ($7.99 I believe) and leaving.

I need one if you want to sell me one for a good price.

the only gamestop that had PS1 games near me had some and some N64 games- mostly sports. They had taken all the cases and thrown them away...all the games were in sleeves. I passed up Xenogears and Rhapsody.

I know of an GS that has nearly every great PSX RPG still hiding in a case behind the counter. Persona 1 & 2, Suikoden 1 & 2, Vagrant, Threads of Fate, Saga Frontier 1 & 2, FF7 & 8 & 9.. they're fairly expensively marked but I'm curious how to approach this. If I call and the workers didn't know about it, they'll take them all before I get there. If I go in and get a fanboy working there, he won't tell me if they're b1g1 anyway.

Thoughts?

Can anyone else confirm?

I was looking up PS1 games through the CAG link on other requests. That was a good indication of whether or not they actually had PS1 games there or not. I went to a store today and saw the bin with the sign. The sign says it applies to PS1 and N64 games only, no mention of DC or Gameboy.

I picked up Breath of Fire IV and Persona 2. I originally thought I was going to get a CD only BoF, but they had everything in the counter behind it. I didn't see all the rare RPGs (ie Tales of Destiny) like the online inventory indicated, but the guy did add some games to the bin after I made my purchase. I think they may be holding it for themselves, but I'll check again tomorrow.

Ive been through this one, the inventory is there in the B&M store, trust me, the hard part is getting them to admit that they are either hiding it for themselves or for the manager of the store. Either way you probably won't be able to get to those games no matter what even though they are probably in that store in the employee hold drawer or somewhere else. Just another reason not to shop at ebgames/gamestop anymore.

Also, there could also be an error in the store locator, or so i have been told, however every time i have used the store locator it has been dead-on accurate for me, and updated promptly, so i refuse to believe their system is bad. There system is usually 24 hours behind according to the website though (or can be, like i said every time i have bought something from seeing it on the store locator it has been in the store and by the time i drove home from the store it was already gone from the online inventory), so the employees could have purchased those games that were in the employee hold drawer ASAP as soon as the sale started, and the inventory online not been updated yet.

Hence if the store locator registers 4+ copies of psx game x and its not on the shelves, chances are very very good that you have some employees that are hiding it on your hands. If the store locator lists 1-3 items, its a little more vague, as somone could have purchased it before the online locator updates.
