Along with the B2G1F & 50% off boxsets, they're also running Buy 2 Get a $10 gift card, 50% off select Funimation, and 50% off select Geneon.

For the Buy $50 in GC's get $10 free, you CAN use gift cards to purchase gift cards, meaning you can keep on doing this as much as you want. YMMV on the patience of the cashier though.

Ugh, all the Suncoasts around me closed. The closest one to me now is a 2 hour drive or something, and this is not worth that drive.
So is this B&M only?

I don't see anything on the website.
Sales like these are usually specific to brick and mortar Suncoast stores, and they're not always universal across the board either. This sales event may or may not be present at your local Suncoast.

You must also be a smart shopper. Half price on titles do not always translate into savings if the same titles can be had at already discounted price elsewhere. Buying 2 and receiving 1 at Suncoast may be equivalent to buying 3 of the same titles elsewhere at a comparable price. Just be a smart shopper.

When they have sales, FYE can be one of the best places to shop. If you can find the complete Gankutsuou series for $34, or complete Paranoia Agent for $28 (or less) anywhere else, please let me know.

Plus up to last week the rate of credit earning was $10 for every $33 credit. Paying $30 for one dvd doesnt seem as bad when you only paid $10 for the credit.

Thinpaks are evil, but if the Samurai Champloo is that price at my local Suncoast, I must jump on it. Pick up a $50 GC and save $10 :D

Tax is evil though, my #1 reason for embracing online shopping

Wow, those are superb prices on the Gankutsuou and Paranoia sets (...and neither of these series are available in thinpaks; not a fan of thinkpaks myself). How did you manage to snagged those at such a dramatic discount at FYE?

Even at Buy 2 get 1 free or Buy 1 Get one Free, I don't see how it's possible when most of the their products are usually marked above or at retail. From the sound of it, those are the prices you paid which is superb in my books.

Can you please clarify the credit earning? Are these trade in your DVD and receive FYE/Suncoast credits. Or what exactly am I missing?

You should probably proceed to pick up two (2) $50 dollar gift card and receive two bonus $10 cards. Is this possible? If so, then apply those to the Samurai Champloo set.

Like i said above, stores (FYE, Suncoast, Saturday Matinee, Sam Goody, Wherehouse, Specs, Strawberries, Coconuts, etc) are running a B2G1F on anime, Buy 2 anime dvds get $10 gift card, and 50% off Geneon/Funimation dvds. They offer many other ways to make the discounts even greater.

Heres how Gankutsuou broke down:

Vols 1-3 - $24 total after B2G1F & 50% discount + 10% Backstage Pass

Vols 4-6 - $14 total after B2G1F, $10 gift card for purchase above, and 50% discount + 10% Backstage Pass.

Okay, I was $4 off. But you get another $10 gift card after buying Vols 4-6. Plus if you did the Buy a $50 GC get $10 free, it would be even cheaper in comparison to cash. This is highly YMMV (depending on cashier's patience), but you can use gift cards to buy gift cards, meaning you have an endless cycle of getting free $10 gift cards.

As for earning credit, last week FYE Paid $33 for Beowulf (PS3) and Best Buy has it for $9.99. Unfortunately the trade in value has since dropped. The best deal ive seen as far as flipping is $2 cash into $28 credit (back in February with the Best Buy clearance).

Thanks for the clarification.

What's the best games to flip? And what's the policy on those games purchased from Best Buy. Are those usually pre-played games, open packages, or completely new down at Best Buy's bargain bin?

Just called my local Suncoast, and the employee saids the only anime special going on is a B2G1. I asked about the 50% Geneon title and he say no. Now is this associate simply misinformed (?) or is the 50% Geneon titles YMMV only. (I'm located in California if that makes any difference)

EDIT: and knowing how Suncoast/FYE fiddles with their prices (i.e. during "sales" prices are usually back up to retail or more; Ergo Proxy $29.95, etc), B2G1 doesn't seem economically favorable for anime fans.

FYE game flipping is kinda dry right now. A few months ago Transworld said that in January they will no longer be taking in games for trade. They do run some good dvd trade deals now and then.

As for your problems at Suncoast, thats the other bad thing about Transworld companies (along with the SRP pricing). Their company is near the top at having the worst communication as far as deals go. There are companywide newsletters, and folders that detail all deals that will be happening. I have no idea if there is some fine print that says "at managers discretion", but finding a Transworld company that actually knows how to run deals is like finding a sealed copy of Suikoden 2.

The 50% for Geneon/Funimation as far as I know is only for select titles. There is a promotion list that they should be able to pull up with all eligible titles. Unfortunately I threw out my receipts from my recent purchase (the receipt will show the promotion name)

Either I'm having really bad luck, or the 50% deal is simply not active. (and it is the 50% off Geneon/Funimation that would be of interest to me)

I managed to get in touch with a two Suncoast and two FYE stores, either it's a conspiracy against me or it's simply not applicable in my local area. All four stores have stated that it's a B2G1 special, only. I proceeded to ask about a 50% off select Geneon and select FUnimation, and they kindly said no.

Trying to complete my Ergo Proxy set (needing volume 5, 6) is definitely pointless with the B2G1 free seeing as how I would have to spend $29.95 + $29.95 (= $60.00) to get another title for free.

My local Fry's electronic has the Ergo stuff at $22.00 (+ $22.00) = $44.00, which is world's better than the retail pricing found at Suncoast/FYE.

I went to the local Suncoast store today and they only had the B2G1 free deal out of the three mentioned in this thread. Asked about the 50% off Geneon/Funimation and said no but then suggested that I try the FYE in town so I guess I'll try there tomorrow. There's also a Suncoast in downtown Sacramento that's a bit far but might be worth calling to see if they happen to be doing it. I remember when I went in there sometime last year, they had a box set sale so their deals might be different from their Citrus Heights counterpart.

There was also a shelf with "5 for $15" on select Funimation titles but I could only find one, maybe two titles that interested me among the bunch of duplicate copies so I skipped getting anything.

EDIT (12/18): So I called both the FYE and Suncoast stores this afternoon and both said their only deal was the "B2G1 free" one. I decided to stop by the FYE anyway to check it out and they did have a sign for the $10 gift card when you buy 2 anime titles. I ended up getting Kodocha v.1, Shaman King uncut v.1 & v.2 (been looking for these for a while), and Onegai Teacher v.1 all for $30 and got a "gift card" of sorts - not an official plastic one but a plastic one that is a "bonus card". I asked if I could apply it to the purchase and also if I got two cards because I bought four anime titles and received 'no' replies to both. Now that I think about it, I probably should have gone in, bought two, and then come back to use the $10 on the other two.

I do have admit the guy looked like the only employee there and it was a slight line behind me so I didn't want to stand there and complain a bit but I still feel a bit stifted.
