hopefully barbados isn't the next nigeria, seems pretty legit, in all honesty though, but i thought i'd post for any added insight.

ok, so i listed my copy of DiRT for the PS3, on ebay...set the starting price pretty low, at 9.99, and basically just doubled the price, which i felt would be a slight bit more than someone would pay for the game, since i think it goes around 19.99 new, but if someone was willing to do the buy it now..y'know..more power to them, or whatever. i just figured someone would start off with the opening bid, and the auction would run it's course..so i made the auction yesterday, and just got in at lunch today, and saw in my email, that the buy it now, was indeed taken, and i also had a message requesting the total amount..so i'm thinking...wtf? the shipping plainly states $2.50 usps first class...open it up, and realize the guy is from barbados...his message is as follows:

Hi there, if you could use USPS Standard or Priorty International Flate rate shipping with a value of $8.00, would be greatly appericated, thanks a lot. let em know what it cost to ship from your location.
while the auction plainly states shipping limited to within the US, i'm not at all opposed to working with the guy.

the auction

i was bored last night, and went ahead and packaged up the game in a bubble mailer...so i was thinking if i go onward with this, i could just drop the bubble mailer, and all, in a flat rate envelope, and away she goes...that way, i have a set-in-stone price, to go by. if he's up for paying it, thats actually the only option i gave him, in my reply i just sent prior to this thread.

looks like it'd be limited to this:

First-Class Mail® International Large Envelope*
Maximum Value for Contents: $400.00
First-Class Mail International Package prices apply to Large Envelopes that are rigid, nonrectangular, or not uniformly thick.
Max. length 15", height 12" or thickness 3/4"

Varies $5.19

First-Class Mail® International Package*
Maximum Value for Contents: $400.00
Other than rolls: Max. length 24", max length, height and depth (thickness) combined 36"
Rolls: Max. length 36". Max length and twice the diameter combined 42"

Varies $5.39

Priority Mail® International Flat Rate Envelope*
Maximum Value for Contents: $400.00
USPS Supplied Envelope: 9 1/2" x 12 1/2".
Maximum weight 4 pounds.

6 - 10 Days $13.45(at post office)
$12.78 (online)

also, if i were to pay for a flat rate envelope online, how would i go about that? would i receive a printed receipt, that i would have to provide at the post office? it's just a bit different than the usual process i'm used to, printing out a label here, and simply dropping it off at the post office.

also does everything seem legit there? i mean he has pretty honest looking feedback, i've never shipped anything outside of the US before, so multiple opinions would be cool. thanks in advance for any input you guys may have.

1. In the future just block off oversea buyer, or set a higher shipping for them.
2. Just use First-Class Mail International . Flat rate box and envelope would be more expensive

It's not so odd that he bought your item. He should have asked first if you would ship out of the U.S. but often times people will go ahead and buy it hoping you will ship it. Your best bet would be to just go to the Post Office and get it weighed/priced there for shipping to Barbados. Depending on the country, the price can be anywhere from a little bit more than in country shipping to a ton more. Just go ask them the cheapest way to ship it to Barbados, then tell him the total price including shipping and once you get the funds via PayPal you will ship. Do not ship until after you have payment.

You'll also have to fill out a customs claim and I know doing USPS you can't use delivery confirmation out of the country so you may want to check into UPS or FedEx or something to ship, it will probably cost more but you'd have confirmation in case he tries to get his money back through PayPal.

indeed it isn't odd, really..odd that someone would buy, and then ask if i'd ship to them. well i always prepay postage on games, at 6 oz. and thats how i got the $5.39 price from, out of those 3 options and yea, i've had other folks from out of the country contact me asking about shipping a product to their country ahead of time, as opposed to just buy now, ask questions later.

the more i think about it, the more it pisses me off, so i'm just going to send a request to just cancel the transaction i think...

well as it sits now, he replied and wrote that if i'd still be willing to continue the transaction, if i shipped to his uncle in texas. so i think i'll go for that. and just ask that he list the uncle's address in the Ship To: section, when he makes the paypal payment, so it's documented, so when it reaches his uncle, my end of the deal is completed, and i'm not held responsible for it, at that point.

this sound cool? just trying to cover my own ass.

I think under PayPal rule your only covered if you ship to the verified address on the Buyer's account. So as long as you ship to his registered/verified address you are covered, so if you ship to Texas, I don't think you will be. It sounds like it's getting a little fishy now. I'd suggest canceling the deal and relist it due to non-payment of bidder or something like that. Whatever the option is that you can relist for free, he shouldn't have bid on it anyway.

yeah, cancel it, there are red flags waving here. if he has an "uncle" in texas, he could buy him plenty of used games for cheap and send right to him.
