buying a new game but no game inside

sup guys

i just got nba street v2 for the gcn at Circuit City. Prob is that when i opened the game, there was no disc inside. I want to take it back to the store but there are two things i'm worried about. 1) i got it for 4.99 cuz of the price mistake so i'm worried they won't allow it. 2) i'm afraid that they won't believe me.... help>?

(i'm not sure if this has happened to any of you but this is my first time and i've been buying games for more than 10 years)

Thanks for the helpful. 7 months registered. A waste of a username.

Anyways.. they should honor it, but I doubt they will. It's worth a shot. Take it back, give it a shot.. no harm in trying.

That is crazy... if the game wasn't only $5 and I was the cashier I'd think that you were trying to pull a scam.

Imagine if you traded it here sealed, we'd have another 20 pg rip-off thread. Try explaining your way out of that one!
Hmm, has that ever happened to anyone who bought a brand new factory sealed Xbox game?...
I imagine out of the millions and millions of xbox games sold at least someone got an empty xbox game.

i think i remember someone saying they got ninja gaiden at target and went to their car and opened it up to find the game was missing. theres your x box factory sealed missing disc of mystery
Even if the official Microsoft Xbox sticker-seal, was still perfectly attached to the side of the game case?...:whistle2:k
I'd DEFINATELY think something was up if there was an XBox seal on a Gamecube game. :p

But yeah, it's happened before. Not to me, thank god, but i've heard frequent cases of like.. people buying a two disc game and getting two demo discs or something like that. Stores usually help out in that case, but I think they'd believe you.. I mean, honestly, if you were going to lie, you'd do it on a MUCH bigger game, not a $4.99 game.. i'd take it back and just try for it. Never know.

Its not so much a matter of something stealing the game from inside ( although I'm sure that happens a lot too) It's the fact that sometimes the machine that puts the cd in the case messes up and doesn't put it in. It's rare, but it happens

As would anyone... but I think he was refering to the previous (slightly) off topic reply that wondered if this type of thing ever occurs with Xbox titles...

Yea, I bought the original Maximo a couple years back from Wal-Mart, got to my car & opened it to find no disk. Took it right back inside and showed them. They looked suspicious, but some of them knew me (I was visiting home at the time, which is a small town) so they swapped it.

I gotta say tho, I would have raised hell if they hadn't - but then, it was a full-priced game. ;)

Have you thought about contacting the manufacturer? It's a long shot, but might be worth a try.

Scorch, I was asking if that happened to anyone who bought a new Xbox game. Sorry, but, I wasn't referring to gunmark's missing GameCube game...

Hmm, that is very interesting, craven_fiend. I guess the Ninja Gaiden game was never in the game case at all, before leaving the factory...

yeah, i think the dude it happened to (from CAG) said he had trouble trading it in for another sealed copy. i've been fortunate with my games when i buy them new.

*knocks on wood*

I know. I was trying for early 6am humor.. gotta have something to SWERVE~! my insomnia.. didn't work :(

Oh well, might as well stay up -- gotta be up at 9 and Saved By The Bell is on.. well.. laying down on the futon won't hurt...

When NBA 2k3 first came out for XBOX, I remember grabbing a copy out of the shipment box to "gut it" for display and there was no disc inside. I've also run into some PC games with missing discs as well.

I have purchased a game on the day of release from Circuit City and have gotten 2 game discs in the package. I also have a friend who got an empty Ace Combat 4 on the day it was released. No chance either of these packages were tampered with.

i Have recieved both empty boxes, as well as a box with 2 copies of the game...which i think explains what can happen to that first game.

thanks for all the love fellas.

I'm pretty sure they'll let me exchange it for the same title but I'm pretty sure that they have no more of the title. i'm also pretty sure that they won't substitute it for another title due to the price mistake.... oh well

Aside from the obvious machine error, we had issues at the retail store that I work at with a guest who was able to bring the game to his car, remove the game, and reseal it to where you could not tell it was ever opened. We suffered a bit of a fallout later on when guests were returning games that were either empty or had an AOL cd shoved inside. Until AP figured out what was going, some of those guests with the missing games were SOL.
thats why most of the time i shake the box first then i go buy. did anyone got a GBA without the cart?
That hasn't happened to me, but I've heard of it happening to other people. I always pick up two copies of the same game and make sure the boxes both feel like they weigh the same before I buy a copy (but that's tough to do when they are in the plastic cases).

this happened to me at the toys r us b2 g1 free sale a few months back. i bought a copy of burnout 3 for the xbox. opened it up and no disc. i took it back to toys r us and explained what happened, and they swapped it out no problems. the store should be able to send it back to the manufacturer as a defect

I bought a Sega Saturn Game once and it didnt have a game and the store said "call Sega"...so I dial 1-800-SEGASATURN and Sega said "It goes through a 17 point inspection, it's impossible" So I payed $50 and never got a chance to play my Panzer Dragoon II. So when the Dreamcast came out, I Warez'd the fu(k out of it.

I personally have always loved Sega's games and ambition...but fuck SEGA....right in the ear. Thanks for the 32X assholes.

This happened to my friend once. He bought Final Fantasy 9, opened it up, and was missing disc 3. He took it back to Target and they gave him another copy.

My Sports Night the complete series came with 2 disc 3's. One was properly in the case the other was just rattling around inside. Stuff like this happens.

At least there's no hard feelings. In that situation I would partially blame Sega for not doing the right thing when they easily could have made a problem into a loyal customer, but I would mostly blame all the lying douche bags that tried to scam Sega that way in the first place and made them so skeptical.

I bought two copies of Xtreme Beach Volleyball at Target on clearance. Kept one and sold one on eBay. Both were sealed and shrinkwrapped. The buyer told me when he opened his there was no disc. I had no choice but to believe him and no reason not to, so I payed to have him return it. I didn't bother trying to return it to Target since their policy is only to exchange opened games for the same title and there were no more of this title. Instead, I emailed the publisher, but they never responded at all.

Ah well, c'est la vie. $7.48 down the drain.

I bought Super Monkey Ball 2 from Gamestop and when I got home the box was empty. I just went the next morning and had it swapped.

Just be honest with the clerk, what you got to loose anyway? Tell em hey, I know this sounds weird and I know you probably think I'm trying to rip you off but my case didn't come with a game.

I bought Burnout 3 from Game Crazy and when I oopened it up there was a CDR in place of the game. Worst thing is, the CDR was scratched, very badly, so I could'nt even use it to make a cd.

I recently bought the Godfather collection and it was missing a disc. I also bought Tomb Raider Gold (PC) from CC a few years ago, and, instead of getting disc one and two of a two disc set, I got two disc twos. In both cases, I got refunds or exchanges. I'd take it back to the store. They'll probably give you a refund, especially for such a cheap game. If you regularly came in with this problem, they'd probably get suspicious, but a one time deal shouldn't be a problem.

There was a topic on this some time ago. Yeah, this happens once in a while. Luckily, I have nearly 500 games, and have never had a problem. Good luck getting another copy of the game OP!

it happened to me when I bought DOA 3 a while ago at Target and I told my mom it felt empty and she said odnt worry and I open it and there is no game so we went back and they took my word for it so just tell them and look like your serious it should work
