Buying games before the street date

Hello,

I live in the boston, MA area. However, I cant find any stores in boston thats not a big chain and sells their games early? Does any one know? Please PM me. I hate gamestop.

Well, you see, the point of having a street date is so that places DON'T sell them early.

Why not just wait your turn like the rest of the world?

Man, how I miss the days of no street dates, when Electronics Boutique(before Gamestop took them over) used to have their games out on Mondays(if not earlier) while all the other retailers were stuck waiting till Tuesday or even later. I worked at Toys R Us and HATED that we never got in games as fast as everyone else. At the same time, I used to love the mad rush of hitting up malls looking for the retailer that had it early. Good times. When did games become just like DVDs and get street dated anyway? That used to only be for the major releases, and even then, not always the case.

It's still only for major releases. Most games ship out on Mondays, and then are on sale as soon as they hit stores, which is usually that Tuesday, but you could get really lucky and get it that night.

Your only chance really is mom and pop independent game shops usually for a premium or if they know you as a regular. Most major retailers computers will not allow the game to be sold even if it ends up in the case early or you weasel a employee into getting it for you.

The only stores that *might* do it on a consistent basis are mom and pop stores (however, occasionally Sears/Kmart will screw up) but like another member said, you are paying a premium. If this is in regards to Halo Reach, the Mom and Pop store might be selling it early for $65, but you could get it a week later from bestbuy for $60 and a $20 giftcard.

Do CA residents get games on Tues. when they come out? Because it takes 1 day for Gamestop to get them delivered to MN via UPS or FedEx and we don't get them until Wed.

Gamestop must have hellacious FedEx bills.
