MSRP is $40.

I'm thinking to myself:

-This'll probably never drop in price, ever
-I wonder if i should get it for Xbox, or wait for PS2
-Not buying it is Not an option
-Might become rare after MS4+5 come out for the same price
-It might be cheaper/bundled PS2

I have it for MAME (so sue me), but I will be picking it up. I think I'll wait for the PS2 version, as the controls will be better. Best. Shooter. Ever.

Metal Slug 3 will probably never grace the PS2 as SCEA is run by a bunch of ass clowns (cites problems earlier this year with SNK)

KOF 2000/2001 dropped in price so you may have luck getting it for cheaper if you wait.

Most Xbox owners will pass on the game as it doesn't have pretty graphics.

This was in the top 5 reasons for me keeping an Xbox (aside from them were all the live fighting games coming out towards the end of the year) but I passed on try number 3 (two crapped out on me already) for MS and got the PS2.

Why would the controls be better for PS2?

I didn't think it was coming to the ps2 either, but Gamespot has recently said otherwise. It might've been a mistake though.
SNK NeoGeo USA announced today that Metal Slug 3 has shipped for the Xbox. The first Metal Slug game to be released for the Microsoft console, Metal Slug 3 is a revamped port of the classic arcade game and will also be available for the PlayStation 2 in the fall.
I'd personally rather wait for MS 4+5, although I could see myself getting MS3 if it was cheap enough for xbox.

I say you should wait for the Metal Slug 4 and 5 pack. It's for the PS2 and I believe it's also $40 so your getting 2 games for the price of one.

MS3 isn't coming to PS2 (in the states) as far as I know. The only reason MS4/5 are coming for PS2 is b/c Sony pans on most 2D stuff unless its bundled (ala KOF 2000/2001).

MS 4/5 are coming to XBOX too so why wouldn't you want all 3 on one console?

Hrmm, I forgot that the compilations were coming to Xbox. I already have KOF 2000/2001 for ps2, so i'm inclined to get 2k2/2k3 for ps2 also. Which would then lead me to want to get the MS compilations for ps2, although not necessarily. I'll wait for the reviews i guess, although the ps2's controller's buttons are easier to press, thus leading to faster shooting and less sore hands. Decisions decisions...

The problem is that it didn't pass Sony's initial QA so it may be a result of bad programing and not necessarily because it isn't 3D... either way the last I read was that they were still going to run it past Sony again.

MGS3 only has a 72% on gamerankings currently. (Just based on 3 reviews so far, though IGN - typically the home of inflated scores - game it a 6.8...)

Probably a good chance to get/win a free one here...

IGN pretty much told you to keep playing the game on MAME and not pay the 40 dollars. I have a pretty big problem with that, and I hope SNK does not forward them anything to review

As one of the other guys said earlier, Sony didn't approve Metal Slug 3 and SNK vs. Capcom because SNK was going to sell them as individual games, but they did approve the bundle packs of the KOFs and Metal Slug 4&5.

Therefore, SVC and MS3 will only be on Xbox.

For those of you irked by the $40 orice tag (like me), you might want to check this out if you want a cheap, OFFICIAL version of the game.

It's the Metal Slug Collector's Edition for PC, and although it's Korean it works just fine on Western versions of Windows. It has Metal Slug 1,2,X and 3. It's only 20 bucks too, so I snatched it up. Play Asia also has the Korean PC version of Metal Slug 4 for $20, but I might as well just wait for the console double packs.

I understand SNKP has to make money, but a $40 price tag for a 5 year old game really only clicks on Gameboy Advance. I'll be buying it eventually because I enjoy the series and it's the last MS worth owning.

I tried it on the Xbox S controller and it felt very awkward. The PS ones felt much better and easier to control.

I love the Metal Slug games....but I really can't justify paying 40 bucks for a game I could beat in the arcade for a fraction of that. Yeah, it's a good game that's worth your time...but it is several years old.

If this had been Metal Slug 1,2, & 3 on one disc or something, then I probably would have picked it up.
