Buying PO games from EBgames.com

Hi, so I never bought PO games online and was wondering what your guys' experience was with them?

I'm considering purchasing some games using the aff25 code, but if the game box and the manual are totally jacked up, I'm gonna be dissapointed.

I've bought PO copies of Fuzion Frenzy, Blinx: The Time Sweeper and SSX Tricky (which sucks btw). They were fine except for the gooey shit from the stickers and that can be removed with some WD40 or Goo Gone.

I've also heard that they've used pre-owned copies from Blockbuster, but not in my experience. I'd recommend them.

I think its worth it. I got ESPN NBA Basketball for like $33 the week it came out. The disc and manual were like new. The case was cracked at the hinge but who cares?

It really just depends on what they have in stock. if all they have is some crappy no case rental copy, thats what you'll get. If they have a just opened and returned copy, you'll get that. Just remember your buying a type of product, not the factory direct version.

the only way I'll buy a used game from EB is B&M, I've only bought a used Amplidtude from their online but I feel like risking them send me something halfway trashed. Even if I can send it back for a better one that isnt much of a deal, it's an inconvenance.

I ordered a couple XBOX games (Metal Gear Solid 2 and Panzer Dragoon Orta) from EB a couple days ago. When they come in, I'll let you know what they look like, how the case is, etc.

On the same note, I just received Otogi and one other game from Gamefly (pre-owned). They were perfect condition, absolutely mint. Not a scratch on the disc or a fingerprint on the instruction manual. I ordered Pirates of the Caribbean and Freedom Fighters from them (pre-owned again), and they should be here in a couple days. I would definitely recommend ordering pre-owned from Gamefly, but, as I said, I haven't received them from EB yet so I can't say one way or another as far as they're concerned. I'll PM you when they get here or post again in this thread...

I got Half Life (PS2) a few weeks ago. The CD was in perfect shape, along with the inserts and such. Only defect I saw was (the usual) pre-owned sticker and being in a regular DVD case w/o the Memory card slot.

No other problems though.

I just received Genma Onimusha and World Series Baseball in the mail from EB today.

Genma's box is pretty jacked up (plastic is kind of dimpled in one spot and the box seems to be smashed in a bit and the instruction manual is a little worn, but the actual disc is in very good condition. I'd swap out the box if I could ever find a jampack or something for $.01 somewhere.

WSB's box, instructions, and disc are in good shape. Although the box has sticker residue all over the back side and the disc itself has a Preowned sticker on it.

I was mainly just concerned that the discs not be scratched up or have gunk/filth on them, so I was satisfied.

If you're going to be unhappy with a messed up box or sticker residue on your stuff, I wouldn't buy used games online.

OK, this pisses me off.

I ordered Zelda WW and Resident Evil (GC).

Zelda doesn't include a manual (when stated that a manual is included).

As for RE...WTF...the middle of the cover is torn!!! Come one! The box is ok, but how the fcuk does one tear the middle of the cover!

Sheesh, I think I'll return them both. Never will I deal in online PO games again. 1st time, last time.

HOLY CRAP! I check the disc condition. WTF!!!! There's a FREAKING PUBIC HAIR ON IT!!!!! COME ON...this is just too much. Man...and yes, the tiny mini-disc is scratched.

All I can say is, I hope mine don't come like that from EB... and I should be getting my 2 games from Gamefly today so I'll post again when I get home with how they turned out. Gamefly is excellent, so far.. that pubic hair story scares me though... that's nasty.

I orderded a new GBA SP but also 4 PO GBA games and when i got them 3 were just in a paper box but one was in the original box it came in plus they threw in a free brand new pirates of the caribbean game which i then sold for 20 bucks to the local gamecrazy. So i would reccomend it.

Well, I just received preowned Viewtiful Joe from ebgames.com and it gives a disc read error every time. Now I gotta ship it back to ebgames.com. Damn it.. buying preowned games.. never again.

I have had nothing but good experiences buying preowned games from EB. Everything has been in good shape on the stuff I have ordered. Preowned systems, on the other hand, is a different story ...

I got a PO copy of Eternal Darkness from ebgames.com about a month ago. The disc was like new and the box and manual were in good condition.

Maybe it's just an armpit hair. :D

I'd never buy disc based PO games over the Internet. Especially from EB or any of the bigger names. You never know what you'll get. A quarter of the time, when you buy their "new" games you'll get a used, scratched game!

I got a preowned copy of FIFA 2003 and it came like new the manual didnt even look like it was open and the case was mint. :)

EBGames.com is really shaky when in comes to what you'll get in the mail. I had some good experiences ordering old cartridge games (like for N64 or SNES) but awful experiences when I ordered games on disc. Now, I think the best is Gamefly. I've never had a problem with their used games, and it even says on their site that it is a 100% gaurantee that they will include the original packaging and manual.

Shit, thanks redgopher. I never knew that and the goo looks like crap on the case. Well anyway, I ordered 6 games for 90 bucks and they all came in great condition, worked very well, even a cd game worked well and my PS2 plays them like crap. The only problem was one of my games came with the wrong instruction manual, well a TS1 case instead of TS2, but there are always ways to solve that just by calling EB. There delivery time is very good, but the only problem is they ship it too slow, well they probably won't for you, its just my luck.

Haven't received my EB games yet, but my 2 PO'ed from Gamefly (Freedom Fighters & Pirates of the Carib.) came in perfect condition once again. I ordered them the same day as the EB games... I think I'll just stick to Gamefly from now on, but I guess you have to chase the deals when you can.

I recently jumped in on the World Series Baseball for $3 P/O, but I also ordered a NHL 2001 (I'm a Sharks fan, and by right here you either get it, or it's well past you) for $3.75. I get the games on Saturday, and WSB was in perfect shape, as was the case and manual for NHL, but the disc was cracked! Then I have to go through the run-around of calling them, getting an envelope from them, sending it back, wait for them to get it, and then wait for it to arrive again. Pain in my tukus!

I think either 2001 or 2002 is best of the more recent renditions.

Disc cracked? So I assume it was already cracked and not from transit. Man, how do they even let those slip by?

HAHA, that quote made my day, lol! back to the subject... i ordered 3 games and they all came with their manuals and original packaging. all my PO games have scratches, but i've yet to find one that wouldn't play in my game system. :)

Umm... that would be my pub. Could you please send my pub via mail to me, don't want anyone cloning me.

To stay on topic I ordered an N64 1st party expansion pack and it works like a charm. Since I was using coupons I had to buy something for $1 or forfeit it. I bought a demo disc and it had FUBAR written all over it.

My first experience with PO games at EB online was good. Game case, manual and disk were all in good shape. On my second order, one of the games was badly beaten up. I only cost $3 and change after AFF25, so I didn't even bother returning it. I actually traded back in at EB B&M towards Ninja Gaiden (when they were taking crap games).

My last experience with them was really bad. This time I bought a bunch of PO DVD's as well and a few games. The game disks were ok, but both cases were hosed. I swapped covers with games in my 'trade pile' to correct that problem. All but one out of 9 PO DVD's purchased were in bad shape. One in particular, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was horrible. The disk had obviously spent way too long in a resurfacing machine and was almost transparent. I returned that movie and requested my return shipping costs be refunded as well. I'll post the results when I find out something.

I would not recommend purchasing PO anything from EB Online. You just don't have any control over what you are receiving. Then again, I am picky. Especially with games. My 2 cents...

I also recently ordered 5 games from the site to trade back into them for the online Halo 2 deal. They were real stinkers, probably traded in by other CAG's, which is why they were in good shape. I think I even received the same copy of Pryzm i traded in a month ago for FF:CC. I probably wouldn't trust them on a game I really wanted since there is no way to tell if the case is gonna be busted or the game be scratched up. Go in store instead if you must buy used.

Since the first two games I ordered POed from eb were in pretty good shape (see my post above) I went ahead and ordered three more.

These were actually in better shape than my first two.

Turok Evolution - Disc, manual, box all look to be in mint condition. Just one sticker on the front of the box.

Quantum Redshift - Disc mint, manual had a tiny tear in the cover, box near mint.

Sega GT / JSRF combo - Disc near mint (definitely needed wiped down though) Manual and box okay. Not a lot of sticker residue but just kind of scuffed looking.

So far I've been very happy with the quality, but I would definitely be pissed off if I got a game that had gunk on the silver side that wouldn't come off, etc. So far I've just bought used games that were $6.75 or less so I wasn't stressing too badly about a messed up box or manual. I think they don't let you return stuff to the B&M stores, is that right?

You are correct you have to return via mail so you are going to get screwed. I purchased a used Dreamcast and the controller that came with it was crap. I called and they stated I would have to ship everything back to get this swaped. I just wrote it off as a loss and bought another controller. The cost of shipping everything back would have been more than buying a used controller from Gamestop.

Damn skippy, it's a shame he was sent to Toronto last year, especially when it was a week that I was in SJ for the Game Developers Conference. And since it was the first (and currently only) time that a Sharks player made the cover, I felt the necessity to get it.

As far as the disc is concerened, it was a crack that had nothing to do with shipping, because the case and everything was in excellent shape, and the cracking of the disc was like someone set something really heavy on the disc and fractured it, but it was still all intact, the technical term would be it was fractured. And still, no return of the disc yet, they're really taking their sweet old time.

That is correct. But if you bitch and moan enough, you can get them to send you pre-paid envelopes/labels to return items with. Still a pain in the arse, but better than having to return on your own dime.
