Buying The Basics - Where to Go?

I am appealing to the Cheap Ass Collective ...

As a relatively new DS Lite owner, I think I need to establish a base collection of games. These would include Mario Kart DS, Tetris DS and a couple of others. I've been doing some shopping, trying to find the best deals, but they all end up around the same general $30 price. Even eBay ...

So I'm asking you all: In your experience, where is the best place (online or off) to acquire these most basic of games for the least amount of money?

Universally, I've found there is no one best place to get them. However, the one B&M place that I've found has the most DS games/greatest variety is Toys R Us.
As for saving money...
If you want it right now, most games can be found complete by trading/buying from other CAG's.
If you're not in a rush, wait around a bit for sales/clearances. They pop up every so often and, if you wait for them, they can save you a good chunk of change.
And remember, there's always the Best Buy GGC.

You missed the heart of the clearance sales so far. It's been a while since Toys R Us has run a buy 2, get 1 free sale on DS games so expect one of those pretty soon after the release of Star Fox. Beyond that, your best bet is to try and grab games from Best Buy with the GGC or get complete DS games during the next B2G1 used sale at Gamestop or EB. Without a doubt though, Sonic Rush is well worth picking up this week at Best Buy for a scant 15 clams. It's well worth it for 15 despite being rather short.

Nintendo's portable games are near impossible to get a deal on... most of my DS games have been from trades or special sales. I got 3 DS games for the price of two from EB's buy 2 get 1 free sale a while back and that Circuit City clearence had a couple of good games.

Toys R Us has a B2G1 free sale every year and that's coming up. I'll being taking advantage of that...

If you don't mind used games and are lucky, you can really get a good collection at gamestop/eb during one of their buy 2 get 1 free sales. That's what I've done thus far to get a respectable collection.

Speaking of getting Nintendo-made DS games for under retail, the Costco by me has a boatload of copies of New Mario for $30 -- $5 under retail. Not the greatest price of all times, but a start.

What is the best Case for the DS Lite?

I need a case that holds the DS Lite, DS games, and GBA games.

Thanks,

Do a search. A few weeks back, the Hori pouches were reviewed by a couple CAGers. Long threads of feedback depending on what you need/want in a pouch. Probably the Hori compact pouch is what will suit you.
