Cheapy, just a thought - If you are going to tell wombat that his work isn’t up to standard, fine, but you should do so off air. It doesn’t seem right to criticize him in front of a “live” audience.

Just downloaded it to my iPod, but instead of listening while I'm at work as I normally do, I'll probably listen later. I think I picked up that nasty stomach bug that the mice left for the Wombat household, so I'm going to jet home early from work. That way, I can enjoy the CAGcast while I'm curled up on the couch at home.

I'll listen , on my way and , at work .
I might end up listening twice , because I get alot of "interruptions" .

Merry Christmas , Cheapy & Wombat .

Can't wait for my Super Cheapy D Fun Pack..keep adding more stuff to it....just wonder when we'll be getting it. Also Wombat where is this deal for Samurai Warriors 2 for $9.99???, I look online and called B&M it's nowhere to be found.

It appears teknomusik has already come to my defense about degeneration, so I will bypass that. However, congrats to Wombat for coming up with 'Truthiness' and holding off the Wii puns as well. I'd agree with having multiple controllers rather than multiple consoles, but then you're forcing developers to choose one or the other, and it would add extra confusion for consumers I think.
I love the idea of expanding CAG to include more editorials, but hate the idea that was presented, video game shopping editorials. Maybe it will make more sense once people start suggesting ideas for what that could mean, but the idea to me sounds terrible. Is it supposed to be about an adventure of someone traveling to EB to buy a new game each week, or how someone got an especially good deal somewhere, or...? I don't know, sounds crazy.
In any case, good job as usual, especially to Cheapy, who apparently does all the work when creating the show. Then again Cheapy, I didn't hear you suggest anything for Wombat to have prepared for the next show, so you're not really encouraging participation for him either. :shame:

Edited due to length, it was a damn long post...

the email said Samarai Warrioirs 2 9.99 then in small print ..... off, so its 30 bucks, I can't read, sorry

Just finished the show. Excellent again.

As for Wombat's "What did the Wii do right?" question, I think that the cost and the "newness" of the controller may not be able to be duplicated in a future console. Gamers have never seen anything like the Wii controller before, so unless they can come up with something that advances/improves upon it, they will be just playing catchup.

Hopefully this is a good 8 years away, though...

Hey Wombat I also watched Slither yesterday. It was a blind buy from Blockbuster and I did enjoy it. Seeing Nathan Fillion again was great.

I think it's funny how seriously some take the bickering. Breaking balls is part of every (hetero) male relationship and is a funny element of the CAGCast.

Score! That would pay for a good chunk of a Japanese 360, wouldn't it? (15-20%)

I agree with you about the 'fanboy' claims on the internet. Even the term fanboy is played out. It's not relevant in a mature discussion of the merits of one platform over another. I would entirely ignore disparagement from someone who uses that term to deride supporters of another platform. Sometimes you need to just ignore your internet critics.

By the way, when the show came down over iTunes (I know, I know), the file was named "download" rather than CAGcast #56. Is this a technical RSS problem? I was a bit confused as to which file it was when I looked at the names of the tracks I had moved onto my mp3 playing cell phone.

**EDIT** Deleted #56, unsubscribed & resubscribed to the CAGcast feed, and it came down with the proper file title the second time. I guess this is just an indication of how much iTunes sucks.

I agree with the whole fanboyism thing. Whenever I hear that term, I immediately think of a 14 year old typing it and immediately dismiss their comment. If you like a system fine, but unless you own stock in the company, don't go around bashing other people's opinions.

I've listened to some of it, but...

Wombat- Were you eating something during the cagcast? If not whatever you were doing on your side made every sound you made very annoying.

I must be crazy then, maybe I was just tired :p

Great show guys! Thanks for the treat for my day off. I should've been cleaning, doing laundry, and wrapping presents, but instead I just played Mario 64 while I listened. My wife will be thrilled. ;)

Thanks for reading both a post of mine and a question I wrote in, and I appreciate the input on the question. The fanboy thing just really bothers me, and people really just need to settle down, so I'm with you. Oh, and thanks for adding some unintentional innuendo to my Wii forum post. ;)

Good stuff in there! The tales of Shipwreck's PS3 travails has inspired me to return my PS3 as well. Much like him, mine has just been sitting in the closet and goading me to open itself. But after hearing about his unhappiness, and the fact that there are no games I want on it until fall next year, she is going back tomorrow, perhaps some other unlucky soul will get a chance to be tempted by her in time for Xmas!

Tony Roma's was my favorite restaurant ever until they closed it. =( I used to always go there for my birthday and I would probably kill for some of their ribs.

Do you have a time mark for us as to when the CheapyD goodness starts? I'm getting tired of listening to this steaming pile of shit podcast.

EDIT--found it after fast forwarding to about 1:25:55. By the way, I've got nothing against these guys--it's just that I find their 2+ hour podcast to be of very low quality.

Edit2--Now that I've listened to it, I can't recommend the effort of downloading this 86mb file.

So this may be old news, but what ever happened to your special guest phone call. I remember you guys talking about playing phonecalls but it never happened.

I just started listening to the CAGcast a few weeks ago and I really enjoy it. I've gone back and listened to quite a few of the older episodes; I have to say you two complement each other perfectly for a show like this.

As for this episode, it seems like there was some hostility in the air. The argument about Wombat's contribution to the CAGcast this week didn't seem like a bit this time. Either your acting skills have improved or you guys were airing a little dirty laundry on the show. By the end of the episode you two seemed tired of each other and it didn't end on a very good note. Hopefully, that's not a new weekly occurrence but overall good show.

Listened to the CAGcast on my drive from WI to Chicago today. wow, you guys covered a lot of ground

The fanboy thing was a great issue to bring up. fanboys certainly add some "color" to the board, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse, but mostly for worse. It's definitely an issue in all gaming message boards. Anywhere someone talks about videogames, there's always one guy who responds spitefully and comments on that person's taste in games.

My least favorite part about it is the mob mentality that an accusatory post can start. It shifts the focus from whatever the person was talking about and the thread turns into a McCarthy hearing. Pretty soon the whole thread is sniffing out the commie fanboys. Of course, I say this knowing I'm a hypocrite and that I can jump onto the hate wagon easily if I'm having a shitty day.

anyway, my regards go out to Wombat-- I felt bad hearing Cheapy rip on you so badly during the show! Really, that was a bit awkward to listen to...well, besides that, I was very happy wth all the stuff you guys covered.

IMHO Wombat dishes it out more than he takes it, but they're both pretty snarky.

okay, so this is par then  I only listen when I drive to and from Madison and Chicago (about once every month or two), so I've never really noticed in the few shows I've listened to.

Great show as always. I have a few suggestions for the game shopping editorial section.

-I always like the "games that you might have missed that are now cheap"

Also..

-"the wait list" - we all have it. Games you can wait for a price drop. This might lead to a discussion of the levels of game pricing..1.) gotta get it at launch 2.) will get it on sale 3.) will wait for a drop 4.) will only check it out cheap and used.
-Value vs. cheap... while Oblivion may not be cheap. I' m sure Wombat has got more value out of it than some $10 games
-Other varieties of "cheap ass" hobbyists... Cheap ass musician, Cheap ass runner, Cheap ass Star wars collector (is it possible)
-How game price affects our impression. I've seen game reviews state the Price in the review as a factor to the score..is that right?

Just a few of the top of my head.

p.s. I always referred to "Mainstream gamers" as softcore gamers.

What ever happened to the best of show that was promised with all clips of the best CAG segments?
Also, what ever happened to the messages from listeners you were going to play on the 50th show?
Lastly, what happened to the special quest that was supposed to leave a message for you guys?

Late to the party, but I still wanna dance...

The Wombat bashing seems to have come back into season on episode 56. I hope there's no real animosity building. That would suck because the chemistry has been undeniable and makes the CAGcast one of the very best gaming podcasts available (only the Gamer's With Jobs Conference Call is comparable in terms of quality). You two work exceptionally well together.

How about easing the minds of the listening audience on the next show? Wombat, say something nice about Cheapy and how well he runs CAG and the CAGcast. Cheapy, send Wombat some free stuff. That way, we'd all know that there's no problems behind the scenes.

Overall good show guys. I listened last night around 2 in the morning on my drive from Boston to home after Christmas. Since I paid attention I didn't crash!

This show was mediocre at best.

It seems CheapyD has picked up the Wombat whining sickness. You know Cheapy, it seems that the amount of preparation you put into the show is minimal at best, so it doesn't look like Wombat is doing any less than you are. Also Cheapy, please stop correcting people's spelling, grammar, and vocabulary as 90% of the time you are wrong!

You guys are capable of putting on decent shows, maybe you just need to take a couple of weeks off so it feels fresh again.
