Wombat is justifiably right to be angry at Orange Theory. Had a similar situation with Planet Fitness. I quit when they didn’t enforce the rules with gym bros wearing masks as chin diapers. Recently got an e-mail saying as per CDC and state guidelines we don’t have to wear masks anymore. That’s not what the new guidelines said at all.

Regarding the Raccoon problem why not just shoot one with a gun? Back in the day we had an issue with Raccoons tearing up the yard and BAM! we killed one with a pistol and never had problems again.

Regarding SNL anytime I've caught an episode in the past 8 years I am actually shocked at how unfunny it is. Its mind blowing how a full staff of people that do this for a living have a week to come up with something funny or clever and can't do squat. It's like if they cant pick from from the low hanging fruit that involves stupid political jokes they just cant come up with anything remotely funny. The Southpark guys can routinely come up with content in 6 days with a much smaller staff that is so much funnier than anything SNL has done the past decade.

I'm loving Mass Effect.  One huge difference between playing on the Xbox Series X and the original is that there are virtually no load times.  I realize that the reason why each Mass Effect game was 40 hours was because you waited forever on every elevator and space travel to a new system.  Now it's so quick that they allow you to press a button to skip the elevator cut scene.  Honestly I think I'd play Skyrim again for umpteenth time if they had load times this quick.  Nothing like a great game that doesn't waste your time.

Cheapy, you need to put your tax dollars to work. Contact your local animal control. They will come out, set traps and release the raccoons back into the wild. They’ll come back as many times as it takes to rid your yard of pests.

A grub explosion shows up as patches of brown grass in your yard around mid-summer. You would only really see the beetles they become unless you dig up your yard as they aren't really surface dwellers.

Voles eat the grubs, and if you have a high grub population, you attract voles. Voles are tiny mice that are active all year. You may think you have mice in your house, but it is just Vole overflow from the yard raiding your cupboard and leaving. They live in tunnels under your yard, peel back your grass to see if you have 1" or so holes, divots, and brown patches.

Raccoons eat voles (among other things) and are attracted by them. If they are tearing up your yard, they are trying to get to the meaty things underneath.

Regarding masks, I think we're at the point where you just have to not worry about the people who refuse to get vaccinated.  If they choose to not wear a mask, that's on them.  You can't fix stupid!

I understand why Wombat is upset about Orange Theory but if he's going to practice that soapbox stance then he's not going to be able to shop or even go anywhere.  Walmart, Target, Costco, Trader Joes, Kroger, Home Depot, CVS and Best Buy are just a few of the national chains who are also allowing vaccinated customers to not wear masks or social distance and they aren't going to check vaccination cards.  Very soon every retailer, restaurant and mall will be doing the same thing.  Wombat isn't wrong but what he wants just isn't reality.

The nerd toy talk was fun; I had to laugh when Wombat said the Ghostbusters toys were for kids. My kid knows that there's a thing called Ghostbusters, but I can't figure out when I'd show it to her, if only because I'd have to explain the ghostly BJ scene. Which, again, WHY did they include that? I saw the movie in the theater when I was a kid and that part was uncomfortable even for the 80s.

So really, how many actual little kids have seen Ghostbusters? And if you showed it to a kid, how did that scene play out?

I say those toys are for older nerds as well.

Wombat, your entire argument regarding Orange Theory not checking vaccine status is all based on assumptions. You assume someone who isn’t vaccinated and doesn’t wear a mask has the virus. You assume that if this person were to give it to someone else it would lead to someone’s death. You also seem to imply that only unvaccinated people not wearing a mask can spread the virus. We all know the vaccine isn’t 100% effective and just wearing a mask doesn’t magically make it so you can’t spread the virus. Will it lessen the chance? Possibly but again this assumes that the person has the virus in the first place and if they don’t it wont matter if they have a mask on or not.

This has always been my biggest problem with the response to covid, it’s all based on assumptions and not science. The “science” hasn’t changed in weeks yet all of a sudden, its ok for vaccinated people to go maskless but it wasn’t ok weeks ago. Why is that?  I work for the government, I’ve been getting tested every three weeks since July of last year(all negative) yet I’m still required to wear a mask because the assumption is that everyone has it(regardless of how often they get tested) so everyone had to wear masks.  With that being said I do agree with your last point that its up to the individual (CheapyD in this case) to make the decision if its worth the risk or not. This is why I agree with Orange theory, businesses shouldn’t be wasting their time checking vaccine status, it’s the individual’s choice to decide if they are ok with going into a place that might have maskless people who aren’t vaccinated. If your aren’t ok with doing that then stay home.

First up, I am a long-time listener, and first time commenter. I always enjoy the show, but this is the first time I felt that I had to get in touch because of the Orange Theory discussion. II am 100% with Wombat on this, because although it's great to hear of so many people being vaccinated in the US, but it doesn't seem to be getting communicated to the general population of America that vaccination is NOT immunisation. All varieties of the Covid vaccination work by reducing the effects of the virus, and the chance of needing hospital treatment. Even a fully dosed up person can catch, carry and spread the virus, and sometimes even still need hospital treatment. In the UK, we have suffered by the emergence of variants of the virus from both our own country and from abroad. So far, these variants are proving to be much more infectious, but the fear is that a variant will emerge that will bypass the protection of the vaccine.

Sorry for the long rant, and please understand that in no way am I saying that you should be locking yourself at home, but for the safety of yourselves and others, even if you've had two doses, please keep wearing your masks and social distancing as much as possible, because vaccination is only a small part in us all getting back to normal life.

Wombat is right. It's not worth the risk. You won't sit in your lawn chairs with construction going on but you are considering going Orange Theory with a pandemic going on.

I too am a long time listener and first time commenter. I agree with the post above ! Over the years there were quite a few eye-rolling comments and stuff but I guess that was all for fun but the notion of Vaccination = Immunisation is really quite crazy. Being from an Asian country and reading about how the CDC says its ok to not wear masks after vaccination was quite eye opening. I mean just what in the world is going on in America ?? Where I am from, a quarter of the population are vaccinated and the masks are still required. In addition, we have cases whereby vaccinated people (Either Moderna or Pfizer) are still catching the virus. I believe that the effects of the virus is likely to be reduced thanks to the vaccination but an infected person is an infected person and in the end everyone surrounded is affected be it in minor or major ways. Stay safe !

I'm aware that this will be changed to the logo of a terrible game, but seriously, what the fuck, Cheapy?

It's reckless and irresponsible to sit there and have a good mocking chuckle at Wombat's extremely valid concerns about idiots sneaking around the edges of the reasonable guidelines which could put Covid to bed for good. It's saddening, how little this appears to matter to you. I think I need to step away from this podcast for awhile.

Great episode guys, been listening for 13 years!  Was on a 10 hour road trip with my wife and put the podcast on. She is not a gamer at all and has never listened to an episode but she actually enjoyed it and was laughing through out, more than I can say then some of the other gaming podcasts i put on. keep up the good work!
