Good afternoon CAG's. I had a shitty day at work, but damned it.. I want to get more of you on Sirius to enjoy the greatness of the Howard 100 & Howard 101 channels. So I stopped by CC to snag a $19 blu ray, and what do you know.. the Stiletto 100 unit is tagged at $14.95.

They only had the display unit left at my store, but I convinced them to open box the SoB for around $12.

It retails for $249, and is a portable Sirius receiver with built in MP3 player. You can record live content with it, and when you live in the inbred cousin humping south like myself (meaning no terrestrial repeaters when you're stuck in an office without a window view, they are pretty common ), it will pull signal from a wifi network. F'ing sweet.

Here's a link to the product for a better description on it from the Sirius site:
http://www.sirius.com/servlet/Conte...s/CachedPage&c=ProductAsset&cid=1158082417240

I verified at the store that this IS a nationwide clearance.. so if you doubt me and flame me, you're just going to look like a douche.

Have at it CAG's, go snag em before the FW morbidly obese with little Ebay dollar signs in their head get them. Circuit City stopped carrying them about 6 months ago according to the CSR.. so of course, YMMV on this and any clearance. Good luck, please feel free to post your success.
ech nevermind, man the sub prices for this thing is awful.
The subscription prices? $12.95 a month isn't bad for the content. I guess there's always the remote possibility of a display unit with a demo subscription that "never dies." :)

Damn, I love my Sirius and would LOVE to get my hands on one of these. After my Sportster broke (I had it in my back pocket and crushed the screen), I have been stuck with a Stratus 4. Off to my local CC.

Stiletto 1 is not on the cc website. I got a Panasonic sirius enabled receiver in my truck, so is this all I need + the subscription?

The item number on my receipt is DEI SL100PK1. I'd post the UPC, but it's probably different due to being open box. The unit isn't listed on the website anymore. This is the Stiletto 100, not the 10 (higher storage capacity than the 10).

If you have a subscription already, I think you just call Sirius and they activate it with your current subscription. The old unit loses the subscription and goes dark. I haven't switched yet, because I don't have the car kit. I've been calling around, and it looks like Radio Shack has the vehicle kit clearanced to $34 (cheapest I've found so far).

Mine came with a home dock. I don't know if that was a mistake on the clerk's part or not, but you can enable the FM tuner through the dock. It looks like the dock needs power to enable the FM tuner, and it takes a 5volt adapter.. so you would need to get something to feed that. I was getting ok reception without an antenna hooked to the dock (the dock doesn't need power to take and use antenna I guess), but got even better when I hooked it up to my Sigma vehicle antenna. So.. if you have a power converter to take AC in your car, you could temporarily use it that way (also has an audio out 3.5mm jack if you have a tape adapter).

If you have a Sirius enabled car head unit, you would need the a converter box and antenna (takes a seperate port if my memory serves me correctly). However.. if your head unit has a 3.5mm aux jack (or has RCA inputs and you have a 3.5mm to RCA Y adapter), it'll take it fine.

Hope that answers a few of the questions. I'm hoping I can find a cell phone charger or something around here with a 5v adapter to temporarily use in my car.

I'd be all over this if only there were a way to add a receiver to an existing lifetime subscription.

And hey, check this out, it even comes with free brain cancer!;)

Yeah, that came with the unit! It's like, "hey... go ahead, put a satellite antenna on your freaking head." I had full reception though without it, there's an antenna built on to the top. I thought you could transfer subscriptions with the lifetime to a new unit?

As for using it without subscription.. you could use it without as a MP3 player I believe, but it doesn't receive FM stations. Honestly though.. once you have satellite, you'll never want to listen to FM again.

I've wanted a Stiletto for a very long time, but they are too freaking expensive. I'm really happy that I was able to snag one for $12 open box. The unit works fine, but I was concerned about it being on a constant power supply and wearing the battery out.. however, they COME with an extra battery pack, so no worries. I guess I could get the CC protection plan for another $10 to upgrade to the Stiletto2 within 2 years with a "mysterious malfunction", but it was only 12 bucks.

No luck at my local CC. They had the display unit left, but were unable to locate it in the open box price listings. The guy told me that they would most likely have to send the unit back to Sirius... bummer. Oh well :(

Yeah, you can transfer a subscription, I would want to ADD a receiver to a subscription without paying the full price of a lifetime subscription again.

Sounds more like he wanted it for himself.

All the CC around me sell display units all the time.
He wanted to keep it for himself.

knowing my CC.....they wont have it. they never have the good shit

Agreed, mine tried the same thing. He said "whoah, this thing is $14??" Got the line of "we can't decide what to sell as open box anymore, that comes down from corporate, managers can't override," etc. I pushed the point a little, and sure enough.. the manager recognized me from buying HD-DVD's and clearance games, and pulled it up immediately. That sucks man, I'd say raise a fuss.. but they're losing alot of money on the sell, so I doubt corporate would care.

I just looked online for the lifetime sub thing.. shite, that sucks. One unit at a time, but with the lifetime.. they charge you $75 and only let you do it a fixed number of times?? I'd say do a transfer, but let's face it.. a portable unit is probably more likely to break than your car unit. That's a tough choice.

Called to see if they had any in. CSR first confirmed it was on sale for 14.xx and that it they won't be getting any more in. However he tried to tell me that it must be an internet only deal. It seemed that he wasn't able to determine if he had any in or not, even though he reasssured me they were out of stock. Thanks for the item number OP, made things much easier.

Main Q: can an employee look this item up to see if any in stock? should I go down there and if so, what section should I look in? car audio? home audio?

Oh well, I'd end up having to spend at least 50 bucks on top of 14 to get a car antenna.

Not true.. they can view stock on hand and stock at other stores. The antenna would cost less, I found Stiletto vehicle kits for $34 on clearance at Radio Shack, and you can check store availability from the website. I'm holding off on buying the kit until after this weekend (moving and things are getting hectic).

The bad thing is this is a $250 unit, so if you call.. it ain't going to stick around long. I'd say if he wasn't able to determine if any were in, but he could confirm that it was $14.. he bought them up. It tells you the on hand number right next to the price in the inventory system (I've picked up a few things in my years of CAG'ing :) ).

I hope a few can get in on this one; this is an incredible price for a great unit. Stilettos tend to go for over a $100 on Ebay.

Checked it out, mine only had the Stiletto 2 on sale for $309 :oldman:

would've made a nice MP3 player/gift.

I'm going to look tomorrow. So far, Skylander7 is the only one with lucky (and a display unit at that). I've been planning to get Sirius in my car for over a year now. I'll get one eventually.
if someone finds me one, i would gladly pay 20 plus the shipping for it
There is no way in hell someone would sell this thing for $20 to you. They would lose money. You $$$$as need to get real with some of your offers.
So, you can't use this without subscription, right? Not even for local stations?
Local stations = the competition. So no, you cant listen to local stations on it. Subscription required. I wont be able to check till later tonight so I am sure I wont be able to get in on this deal. I already have 2 units but a portable that records is exactly what I need.

I think Target has a Sportster unit on clearance for 20 something, they have two at my local Target. I paid $9 for my Audiovox PNP3 at a Compusa clearance a couple years back. The Sirius site also has deals from time to time that are below the usual cost. I think it's a little crazy to have to pay $100 for a unit and then a monthly subscription, so I'd say shop or wait until you find one low priced. The good news is that most units have a universal connector for docks and cradles as opposed to a couple or three years back.

I was hoping a few would get in on this, but remember.. don't call! If you call, you won't get it. Simple as that.

wish i could jump on this.. but the bad part of living on a small island where the closest real stores is 30 minutes away.

Checked the closest CC to me and they had none in stock. They didn't even have the Stiletto 2 in stock or even one on display. Only the sign with the $3xx.xx price tag was there. Oh well, it was worth a shot. I have another CC that's on my way to work so I'll check it out tommorrow. I have other CCs in my area that are not too far away but I don't feel like wasting gas on something that I am not likely to find.
