Ok, there seems to be some contention as to how we should bring people into the clan. Everyone seems to agree that we could use some newblood; but we aren't all agreeing on how we should look for people.

Some have suggested that we use Ugamer's idea that he presented in the tryout thread, where we temporarily invite people into the clan for a week and play with them.

Here is Ugamer's post from the tryout thread.

You will now be given a 7 (or whatever is close to a week) day tryout period with the clan. After one night of playing with us, if we feel that you have potential, you will be sent a clan invite and will become part of the clan for one week. During this week you will play with many different clan members who will evaluate your playing ability and demeanor. At the end of your tryout period, the clan will decide on whether to keep you or kick you. No hard feelings if you don't make the cut, but we are looking for good players only.

Also, you will not be able to participate in minor or major clanmatches unless you are invited by a permanent member to do so. If you participate in a clan match in a room with other applicants, you will all be denied membership to the clan and will have no chance in the future of making it back in. A permanent member is someone who has the rank of "member," "staff," or "overlord." For your temporary membership, you will have the rank of "peon."

I personally agree more with how we've done it in the past, which is basically keeping our eyes open, playing games with people without inviting them to the clan, and deciding from there whether we'd like to have them in. Trakan's entry is a perfect example of this. He played with us often, the whole team saw his skill, and we invited him in. We could expand this to help broaden our selection, which is what Ugamer's idea emphasizes most strongly. I agree with what some have said about how we won't be seeing as many people with this method, which is why I'd like to expand it a bit. What I oppose most strongly is the idea of actually inviting anyone into the clan temporarily, and the idea of making it a public affair. I much more prefer the "Don't call us, we'll call you" method.

More than anything, I'd like to see a combination of these ideas. So, with that said, please post your own suggestions and thoughts for how we should handle this (CAGTAC only please). Thank you.

UgamerX Method:

1.) Yes, after 7 days if there not good we will have to cut them but hey thats life.
2.) We will atleast play with alot of newererer people this way as I don't see us playing with anyone with the B method.

Also I would like to ask about the other method how do we keep our eyes open? I mean most of the people we play against have clans. The only way we would possibly get anyone to join is a CAG forum member.

Thanks for actually backing up your argument, unlike some people.

I don't have a problem with cutting people who deserve to be cut, or hurting anyone's feelings in that regard. But if alot of people get cut (and they will), the more it happens, the more prospective people will think that they're just going to get cut in the end. And, they're probably right for thinking so.

Also, people are going to disagree about who should/shouldn't stay. If we already invite them to the clan, it's going to give the people who support them being in the clan the advantage. They'll simply say, "He's already in, no need for him to leave," even if they should be gone. If we never invite them in the first place, there's no immediate bias.

And you're right, we won't have as many prospects with the other method, but I think that's a good thing. Personally, since the new maps are coming out, I think that should be our immediate focus, not trying out new people. Why can't we do this on a smaller scale? The Ugamer method, while providing us with plenty of applicants, is going to make for plenty of rejects and plenty more work than I think anyone would want to worry about while trying to play a game.

This doesn't have to be an immediate thing. We aren't starving for talent here. I just want the focus over the next month or so to be on the new maps, and not worrying about anything peripheral to that.

whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. NOW, was my arguement

I always thought that trainees could be brought in under the peon level, which I always thought was there for that reason, so as a person can be part of a clan in the try out period but now have any power to do anything inside of it. The only reason why I side with UGamer on his process is that if only one or two people have someone that is in a "tryout" period with the clan on their friends list and they are not on, I don't get a chance to play with them, whereas if they are in the clan as a peon, I know exactly whom is in a tryout period and can invite them into games. I think the only "con" to this situation is that in the end we have to actually fire the person from the clan and remove him which is a little more confrontational than most people around here like to be. In most cases in the past we have just ignored people when they suck and eventually they quit trying to join.

I believe we should go with the UGamer policy and in regards to the firing process move JimmieMac into his rightful position as CagTac HR. The perfect spot for him since we know he has no problem whatsoever telling someone how it is, how its going to be, and where they can go with it.

Any decisions on enstating membership should probably be put to a vote and function democratically with the staff making their vote and then allowing a 2/3s majority veto vote by the members of the clan. Thus everything is balanced and fair but overall power is still held by staff. A final rule should be added that whomever is chosen to be in the clan, everyone needs to understand, that no matter if you hate that person more than anything, you will respect and not bitch about that person publicly. Bottom line is that if that person was chosen to be in there, the majority feel he should and thats that.

PM me with any questions or comments.

Okay. Led, I do understand a lot of the reason you're pissed off. It wasn't brought to your attention. Sure that was a pretty cheap ass shot (Play on words not intended) But it is kind of a good idea. Like Pimp said, it is hard to keep our eyes open for fresh blood. Even though it seems like we find a lot of good people like that (Trakan, Crymson for example)

On the other side, people we recrute may start problems with our clan. I'm not saying all the people trying out are dicks, but you can't rule out this possiblity. I mean, is it really a good idea to involve new people within CAGtac's problems that it's going threw right now? Can't we wait until this thing has been resolved in order to get newer people into the clan. More than likely, if we involve new people, we'll just try to get them on either side.

From my prospective, I agree with both Ugamer and Led. Each on certain and differnt levels for their argument.

I like Ugamers idea. And I like Zero's idea of letting Jimmie fire the guys if they don't work out since he has no heart.

He has a heart, its just 10 sizes to small
