can best buy employees change the price?

for lunch today, i went to the tysons corner, va best buy to check out the deals. they had a few of the $5 games in stock, but they weren't listed as such (wario world was $29, Mary Kate and Ashley License to Drive was $19). An employee asked if he could help me, so I asked him to price check Wario World. he went off and came back, and said it was listed for $29. I said "oh" and went to a different part of the store. then I saw this guy go talk to another best buy employee, and they both went back to the videogames section, and he pointed at Wario World. I make my way back over there to overhear what they are saying, and I distinctly heard him say "..it showed up as $5."

so when they leave i pick up Wario World and the Mary Kate game (only games i remember from the lists i've seen here that were at the store), confindent that they will ring up as $5. at checkout, mary kate IS $5 (despite the $19 sign) but Wario World rang up as $29! I told the cashier i thought the games was $5, so i didnt want it, and she says "oh no this game just came out. we don't have any $5 gamecube games." right... even though the other game came up as $5, though i didnt bother point that out to the stupid cow.

i'm suspicious that the first employee i asked to price check the game changed Wario World's price in that store's database... can they do that? the second guy he told may have been a manager so he might have done it but.. i'm just bitter that first guy lied, what the heck does he care, doesn't cost him anything to sell the game that cheap. bastard.

I don't know about chnaging the price but the employees at my Best Buy were definitely taking alot of the $5 games for themselves....and their friends

Did some one say Olsen Twins?

Wario World (Treasure developed platformer) Gamecube $5
Wario Ware (Cube version) Gamecube $29.99
Wario Ware (GBA version) Game Boy Advance $5

EDIT: actual point. there are multiple wario games and 2 for cube BUT, if a manager thinks there's been too low of a mark down, they can edit it at store level. as stupid as that sounds, it can be done.

Never get the BB employees involved! That's just asking for trouble. Just trust in the list. Go pay, keep a close eye on the prices and if one comes out differently than expected, act like you just realized your brother didn't really want that game and ask them to take it off.

When an employee gets involved, there's a lot better chance of them telling the manager about it and then no one gets the deal because they change the prices or pull all the stock.

wow, i WAS wrong.. even though i said Wario WORLD, i was thinking it was Wario WARE for GC, so I was wrong. thank you msdmoney and Wshakspear for clearing it up... but i could of sworn i heard the guy said ".. showed up as $5.00".. of course without hearing the first part of their conversation, who knows.

hehe, it was pretty funny, i saw one of the owners of my company there, and he just now stopped by my office, asked me if i good anything good. I said no... haha, too embarrased to say i got mary kate and ashley, even if it was for $5. :)

the game i REALLY wanted was lost kingdoms 2.... or even rogue ops, but they didnt have either of those.
