sorry i've been looking around and i cant find this anywhere. i just got a laptop and i'm using it wirelessly can i connect my laptop to my xbox to get on live? do i need a crossover cable? i have a regular ethernet cable and i'm running windows 7. i've tried bridging the connections or setting it to allow sharing but i'm not given those options. thank you in advance.

i must be doing something wrong i cant get to that tab that says internet connection sharing under the advanced tab on the host computer or on my laptop. does it have something to do with the host using windows xp and the laptop using windows 7?

Ok...first of all, please let me know what all you have running there.
I was assuming you were using a wireless router since you said the laptop was on the net wirelessly. ICS sets your computer up like a router, so that it's:
Wireless Router -> Laptop (acting as router) -> XBox.

You want to set up ICS on the laptop. Open up your network connections, go to the properties of the wireless connection, go to the sharing tab, and check the "Allow" box.

Do you have a wireless router, or are you trying to share the network of the "host" computer and then re-share the network for the laptop?

I use XP and all I had to do to get it working was go to the Network Connections page, right click on the wireless connection, Properties, Advanced, and then put the check by 'Allow other network users to connect...".

ok there's a desktop computer in the other room but i cant run the cable from there to my room. i got a laptop with wireless running windows 7. i connected an ethernet cable from my laptop to my xbox. when i go to network connections properties and wireless connection there's no sharing tab.

there's only a connection tab and a security tab under wireless properties, and the host computer has a router thats how i'm getting the wireless on my laptop but i do have an extra router in case i can use that

bread's done
