Castlevania X Chronicles for PSP!!!!!

weird, strell said something about a remade Castlevania game on the PSP with 3D models in the 360 SOTN thread. Was this announced before?
This is undoubtedly cool, but I think the original's graphics look better.
Good thing it includes the original then. :D
So are people still planning to get SotN on Xbox Live?
Not anymore.

Espicially since this one will have a new translation.

I'm wondering if it'll be the PS or Saturn version of SOTN... I'd shit my pants if it was the Saturn version.

fuck. Looks like I'm buyin' a PSP. The only way they could make this better is if they added to SOTN the extras from the Saturn version
fuck YES

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS

RONDO OF BLOOD FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
too bad its not an an actual console. Im sick of portable gaming.
Im buying it as im a huge CV fan...but im not getting a PSP. And the 3-D Gfx look kinda stupid. I hope the original sprites are in there also.

Will buy. This is considered the best 2D Castlevania EVER.

Roufuss if this comes out over here I wonder if we get the import with all the familiars or the American version. Why not Danny? You just gonna beg a friend to borrow his PSP?

I didn't know about this when I made that post.

It's no SOTN2 but it'll do for now.

Even if this dosen't come out in the US, I will just import it. I won't mind missing out on the brief shitty dialogue anyways.

But there is a huge huge huge 99.9% chance it's coming here anyways since this is one of Iga's favorites and he hates the fact we never got it.

Holy shit I'm excited. Castlevania on my favorite handheld, in WIDESCREEN. OMG, I'm so excited, I can't contain myself. Day one purchased confirmed.

Greatest news all year, so far.

Holy fucking shit, this is the news I've been waiting for for like... forever. Oh my God. I can't believe I'm reading this. This is perfection. This is... this is the greatest thing ever. Thank you Iga, you have given me what I've wanted for so long. Finally, I'll own all the Castlevania games that I want.

HOLY SHIT.

If I find out Rondo of Blood sucks, however, I'm going to hunt people down.

Besides. Where's my Castlevania 2 remake? Give me that with SOTN's experience system. THAT would be beyond badass. Then make it about 2-3 times as long, with new dungeons and stuff.

But still, SOTN on PSP is kewl. That'll do for now.

Ummm. Here's a tissue, clean yourself off. Vomits.

Chac now we just need "Policenauts".

Guys, this is clearly coming stateside:

A straight port of the legendary Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, complete with full-screen graphics and a newly glossed over translation.

And it's not like importing is that difficult either.
This might actually make me buy a PSP. Dammit Konami (I love you).
Don't hate, appreciate. There's also "Princess Crown" for you to buy as well as both Suikodens.

Unless you've got a good knowledge of Japanese, buying the Suikoden's won't do you much good.

I really wish Konami would dump them out over here.

Actually, how the hell is Sony letting this Castlevania compilation come out here? It's old stuff. Sure, it's unbelievably good, but it's not like that's ever mattered to Sony in the past. Maybe the PSP is getting hammered well enough that they decided to put something decent on it regardless of age?

Rondo of Blood has never come out over here, and even if it has, it's also getting a new 2.5D remake. SotN is just like the icing on the cake.

Old stuff isn't the problem, they just didn't want straight ports of old stuff that was already on the Playstation, IIRC.

But yea, maybe they are getting their ass kicked enough that they will let Suikoden 1 and 2 come out too... I imagine that, combined with this new CV game, would start driving up PSP sales. You'd be able to get something like $350 worth of games for the cost of two $40 games.

They deserve to get the shit knocked out of them sales-wise, but yeah.... I'm starting to maybe reverse my thinking after this annoucement. I still can't believe this. They're putting the original versions on there, SOTN gets a new translation, they won't be stretched into widescreen artificially, and there's a remake of Rondo of Blood should anyone care. This still seems too good to be true. It's like a dream... probably because I've been holding out hope for years that this would happen.

It doesn't suck by any stretch, but to be rather honest, its hype really exceeds the quality of the game. It's one of the best pre-Metroidvania games in the series, and would be the best if not for Super CVIV. The SNES game's control really shines compared to the NES games, and it makes Rondo seem a lil' archaic by comparison. On the plus side, it is a phenomenal game, with tons of hidden passages, extra bosses, alternate exits, and things like that that give it a great deal of replay value (it's less linear than most of the early games, save for Dracula's Curse).

I think finally being able to play the game will be a reality check for American gamers - think of the hype surrounding Final Fantasy III DS compared to the attitude towards the game before a DS version was announced or in development. Now that the game's out in the US, it's great, and a fun game to play. No doubt about that. However, a lot of the romanticism for the game died pretty quickly, once people realized that they're playing a 15 year old RPG that's been virtually untouched, save for a fancy new coat of paint. I think the same can be said for Final Fantasy V and the FF Anthology (or was it Chronicles?) on the PSX. Ubernerds held out such a hardon for those two FF games...and now V is not only not romanticized, its probably regarded as one of the least liked FF games (I think it's damned fine, but it ain't no 4 or 6).

Rondo of Blood will be a treat to play, but we'll see how this title is perceived in 5-6 years, and if people even remember the 14 years of forum posts, rumors and anticipation to play this in the US. My guess is that it will be quickly forgotten, just like FFIII and V.

All that said, the remix of the game sounds amazing, and the animation on Richter looks top-fuckin-notch. It gave me that feeling that the old prince of persia/flashback style of platformers, which gave an unparalleled amount of animation to the main character. The new 1st level looks very different from the PC Engine version, and showed a lot of areas and bosses I don't remember seeing at all. And, it also lacked the "crazed zombie bull thing" that chases you from left to right through level 1. It's too early to call it an incomplete remake, though.

I see this as a good game to get. But I'm still waiting a while to see whether or not there's a psp2 coming out. I'm a patient guy, and the PS2 rpg library has one hell of a shelf life. (Got a lot not beaten yet.) COme to think about, I have FF 1-6 to beat all over again. (Well, 4+6 again.)

What would be awesome if the 2.5D remake was actually a twist on the old game... it would give me a reason to play both the original port, and then this new 2.5D version. At first I thought it was going to be just a graphical facelift, but if the game itself is significantly different, than that's 3 games in one package pretty much.

The Saturn version of SotN would seal the deal.

And who the hell is saying Final Fantasy V is one of the least liked FF games? It's a damn fine game... it's one of my favorite FF's. I don't ever see it getting bashed.

I just wanted to add I love the age we're leaving in now... we've got the proper MSX ports of Metal Gear 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 3, and now Rondo of Blood... all we need now is for Square Enix to translate the missing Dragon Quest games for us

The video of the Rondo remix sure looks like a damn-near new game, but I only played through it twice, never really taking the time to explore every nook and cranny. It'd be nice to have both be a touch different.

As for FFV, perhaps it's not always dumped on, but it sure tends to be ignored for as long as we went without it in the US. Moreover, the anticipation of it coming over was a lot of fun, and when it came out in Anthology, that was the end of it all. No more waiting was great fun, but ultimately, it's just another FF game. We'll see if Rondo can get around that.
You guys see the video yet? It is about 5mins long.
What is is with Konami and not being able to make good walking animations?

The GBA/DS characters are either floating or stomping. Richtor looks like he's trying to not step on a crack and break his mother's back.

Besides, I broke her back last night anyway.

I'll make a exception for SOTN and other legendary games (FF7, MGS), but godammit sony, stop making me pay 40 for a 8 dollar download, EXPAND YOUR PSP DOWNLOADS ALREADY.

Damn. I look forward to seeing this make it to US shores, as it'll be another great PSP game. I've neither played SotN nor Rondo of Blood, so this looks like a great place to start.

I haven't missed my PSP at all, and then they do this? Konami, I hate you as much as I love you right now.

Here's hoping for a PSP price drop by the time this rolls out.

Why stop at walking...

Might as well just go with a fluid character.

I mean, Capcom knew what to do with Ghost n' Goblins. Homie got all sexy and fluid and learned a dash technique too.

This still has plenty of time though.

I'm buying this for the Rondos. fuck SOTN. Haven't you guys played that game enough? I can't stand going through that crap again just to spend hours working toward the Rune sword and Vermillion (or whatever the name of the 1,000 slashing sword is called). HOWEVER...

Gather around... idea time. Sony/Konami put SotN on the Playstation store for PSP owners. Iga and his team port the Saturn Version of SotN with this new Dracula X compilation.

Everybody wins!

I wish there was a way that I could reach Iga or his team and personally beg them to port the Saturn version.
Don't forget the Front Mission games. THEN everything will be complete.
You're missinjg "Rpmancing Saga", "Treasure Hunter G" and "7th Saga 2".

I guess this was the PSP game they were hinting at on the 1up show. It's funny I was just going to play through SOTN on my PSP (waiting for my memory card to do so). Good news.

I guess this was the PSP game they were hinting at on the 1up show.

And in last month's EGM. Sorry to go against the grain here, but it's kind of a bummer that it's not a new game for one of the consoles. I would take it worse if I actually had any respect for Shane "Sony Suckoff" Bettenhausen's hyperbolic bullshit.

agreed.. was hoping for something bigger and better than this.

The creator of Castlevania has been shunning the PSP since the get go. Mainly because of your comment. People expected any PSP Castlevania to be huge, full of new features that push the system to its limit. Why he has had the team working on 2D stuff on the DS as it is a bit "simpliar" in many regards.

If these improved "ports" do well, maybe that'll get him to focus on actually sitting down and working up some new stuff to take advantage of the hardware.
