I'm starting to get into casual CE collecting by buying the CEs of games I already own. But CEs vary a lot--some are worth paying a premium for, others clearly aren't.

So I'm soliciting comments about any of the following CEs. In your opinion, are they worth the cost (used) of upgrading, based on the quantity/quality of the extras included and based on how they've held their value to date?

Feel free to use this thread to discuss other CE value-for-money topics as well. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Alan Wake No
BioShock - Worth it. Great game.
Lost Planet - U can find the CE cheap on Gamestop for $2.99.It may not be mint.
Mass Effect- Check ebay. There is a reason why this CE cost alot.
Mass Effect 2- cool case.
Tales of Vesperia -Just a CE case and soundtrack. I like the case and one of the best rpg. I put this at my top list

PS3
Castlevania LOS - This is just in a cardboard. Consider if u really want the CD. I would pass. See if a friend has it

Catherine - Collector stuff. Whatever floats your boat. I say no
Dead Space 2 - Plasma gun is cheap plastic. consider junk. No metal case
God of War III- just a CE box. Nothing special
Metal Gear Solid 4- great game. i would consider for the right price.
Modern Warfare- not sure
Modern Warfare 2- U get a cool lookin case and CoD classic DLC. I think best buy had it for $29.99
Mortal Kombat - i like the bookends, but still not worth it for $60. Maybe $30? Fighting games drop like a rock. (besides MvC2 cause took 10 years to release MvC3)
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit-no
Resident Evil 5- If u are a RE fan. (I am a fan) The only cool thing is the case. Bag is cheap and figure is too small.

I started to go through the list, but it was taking too much time. Here's the bottom line: you can find what is in all of these packages really easily through a google search. The problem with buying used is 1) you can't really tell that EVERY piece of the package is there and 2) many of the CEs you listed contain digital content that is one-time use ONLY.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is beyond those two things.

I own both Limited Editions of Mass Effect 1 & 2, and IMHO, they are not worth the price for what you will get. Due to the series' boom in popularity, thanks solely to the success of the sequel, the price for both Limited Editions has gone up significantly. I believe that used copies of both games fetch an average of $150 on eBay. What you are essentially paying for is the Mass Effect tin box and the Mass Effect 2 steel box. I believe both editions also have a bonus making-of dvd and art book, but the quality for both editions is really not that great. With the sure success that ME3 will bring, I suspect the price for these editions to go only up.

I also own the Bioshock Limited Edition, which I do recommend that you try to find. It comes with a ceramic Big Daddy (very nice quality) and an additional making-of dvd/soundtrack. You should be able to find one for $80. Note: the drill tips on the ceramic big daddies was notorious for chipping in the packaging - just something to be aware of when you're shopping.

Hi Swift900. Is Mass Effect 2 CE worth $20 on PC?
Is Mass effect 2 better on PC or Xbox 360?(Load time, graphics gameplay, etc), Have a hard time deciding...

To clarify, I'm not asking for a description of the contents. I'm asking for opinions about whether the CE is worth the cost. For example, if it includes a figure, is the figure well-made? Probably worth the cost. Cheap plastic? Probably not. Etc.

Thanks for the replies so far!

My bad. The only thing worth is the Bioshock with the figure. Everything else is not worth it then....I think fallout 3 is worth it, but thats me :)

Yea, if i were you, I wouldn't pay more than 50$ for the ME1 CE. It's cool and all (cuz its rare), just the market is crazy for that right now and seems really over priced to me. Might poke around some garage sales for that one.

Definitely try and get yourself a FO3 CE while they are still sort of available at a reasonable price. I have two packed away.

Mass Effect or not, if you have an up-to-date gaming PC, games will generally run faster and look better on PC than on consoles.

I prefer to play games from the comfort of my couch with a controller in hand, so I chose the Xbox version. Really can't go wrong either way.

Lastly, I'd say the ME 2 CE is definitely worth $20 on the PC. Just keep in mind that you really aren't paying for a collectable, but rather a great game.
