Hey, my girlfriend is looking for a new DVD player and for once she is actually interested in this site (instead of telling me I'm on it too much). Does anyone know of a cheap DVD player, preferably a decent brand. Thanks.

I really like the Cyberhome (supposedly it's really Samsung) 300 model.

$40 right now at Best Buy but it wa recently down to $36.99 B&M along with a $5 on the site. This may come around again.

The feature set on this thing is incredible. It plays almost EVERYTHING you could want except DiVX and WMV. I've heard some complaints about reliability but at this price it's almost disposable. Mine has been fine so far and having access to all the stuff on burned discs is great.

Yeah I did see that one everywhere today. Reliability is kind of an issue just because I don't want to have to buy a new one every few months. Does anyone have any experiences with this player?

if you have a fry's near you, the cyberhome dvd player is only $24.99 now. i read the reviews and they say it lasts about a year. i didn't care b/c the price was so cheap, lol.

Edit: this was the orange county ad. :)

Ok, that is a really good price, unfortunately I'm on the wrong coast so no Fry's by me. Would a Sony player or something equivalent last more than 2 or so years? I can get a Sony DVD player for $90 so buying 2 crappy players instead of a reliable one is kinda a pain.

I find the feature set is a mitigating factor. Very few big brand units will deliver all of those formats. Did I mention there was also NTSC/PAL conversion and S/VCD and MP3 support, and region coding changes in a hidden but easily accessed menu?

Go by WalMart and pick up the Sanyo DWM400 DVD player its only $59.87 and should last you a few years. It has progressive scan so if you plan on upgrading to an HDTV anytime soon you will get a great picture.

i have the cyberhome one
it works great

And most importantly plays all formats (cept divx)

its been running fine the month that ive had it so far.

i had a older toshiba model that costed me 129 a year ago
and it doesnt play half the formats that this cyberhome one does.

im never going back to other dvd players now that i have one that plays everything i need. And dirt cheap.

oh and the cyberhome is progressive scann too. :)

I'd recommend an Apex DVD player. Cheapest, and they last a good while...Had mine for 6 years now...

Apex is the brand that died on me.
