Cheap Ass Manga

maxguy56

CAGiversary!
Hello,

I've recently become nearly addicted to Manga, particualrly in Graphic Novel Form, the only problem is slamming down nearly 10$ per volume which Ill probably finish in a day is kind of expensive. I was hoping someone knew where I could get it cheap. Thanks a lot for the help.

Sincerely,
maxguy56

I buy manga from RightStuf.com. They have a lot of promotional sales and weekly specials, so you'll occasionally catch a deal on a manga or DVD you're after. Also, they have a daily deal which is a lot like Amazon's Friday deal, where they present you with a random list of discounted items. As for B&M options, maybe Borders has some reasonable prices?

they don't have much of a selection, but the price is right :p even after shipping, it comes out to about $2.50 apiece (depending on how many you order of course). they only have a limited selection though. hope you find what you're looking for :)

EDIT: oh yea, i forgot to list some of their better ones.

2nd EDIT: i forgot to add this site as well. their manga prices are pretty good. for example, their naruto or rurouni kenshin graphic novels are 2 bucks below retail ($5.96), and they have a whole bunch of $6 manga in their clearance section.

Thanks for the site, but I'm not familiar with any of the manga there, are there any you particularly like?

Edit:
Thanks, hey have you read Kazan? It sounded interesting, kind of like sandland. And if you read any kabutp what did you think of it?

i've never bought anything from dollar manga before, but i've heard a lot of good things from other forums. peeps usually get their stuff within a week. some of the ones they recommended were; bride of deimos, red prowling devil, wounded man and onegai teacher.

best of luck to ya!

edit: sorry, but i never read kabuto or kazan. i've only read some samplers that i got for free from a friend and some naruto, which of course is awesome! :)

Thanks, Dorae. I've never heard of Discount Anime DVD before, but their selection looks solid and the prices are reasonable. :)
Berserk is an awesome manga series, Max, but it's still $10 per volume at the aforementioned site (which kind of defeats the purpose). Trust me, though, it's well worth that price. Either that, or you could take your chances with Iron Wok Jan! for half the price.

Thanks very much I think Im probably going to order a huge shipment of manga from dollarmanga soon. I think I'll go with iron wok jan for now, but when my bank roll enlarges I'll try Berserk.

Iron Wok Jan is awesome! It's one of my current manga favorites. Jan is totally insane. Of course, every time I read it, I get hungry for some chinese food...

If you can ever afford some full price manga, I highly reccomend The Kindaichi Case Files, which are some awesome murder mysteries, and Sgt. Frog, which is just crazy most of the time. I love it!

I was just kidding about Iron Wok Jan! It sounded funny and corny, so it jumped out at me. I wasn't expecting the niche fan to speak up so soon.

If you have a Media Play by you, they run a 3 for $20 sale (this week for example). Any $7.95- 9.99 manga is eligible. I dropped $60 this week already to catch myself up. It equates to 6.66 per each.

If you join Waldenbook's bookclub or something, you get 10% off. And they have deals like Buy 4 Get 1 Free every few months.

Dollar manga is pretty good. I purchased Shaolin Soccer 1, 2, Crouching Tiger 3, 4, Legendary Couple 1, Mega Dragon & Tiger 1, Heaven Sword & Dragon Sabre 2, Black Leopard 1, Saint Legend 1, and Weapons of the Gods 1 for $44.00. They were all $3, but there was $14 shipping. But it still averages out really cheap. Cover price on all of these is $13.95.

I really enjoy Iron Wok Jan too, I have the 1st 9 volumes and it keeps the same frantic pace throughout.

I never trust anime, manga, music, games from China.. they're almost all bootleg unauthentic pieces of shit.

Actually Dollar Manga is a US site owned and ran b comicsone the company that produces and translates these Manga into englih so they're not bootleg. About Sgt. fog what's it about about and how many voumes are out, it looked interesting.

Sgt frog is up to volume 3 possibly 4 by next week, Tokyo Pop can be a little random sometimes. Basically Ailens come to earth with the intention of taking over but are foiled by a couple of kids who take them in, Hilarity ensues. It's fun and well drawn!

Thanks for posting this doraemon. That's some good HK manhua. I was looking for cheap Comicsone releases.

I've ordered several different times from Discount Anime DVD and I always had great success. The only thing I didn't like about them is they ship by UPS for orders over $15.00. IMO, I prefer the service of USPS.

hehe, glad that i could help some of you out.

btw, www.rightstuf.com has something similar to amazon's "gold box" specials and those prices are pretty decent as well. i think it's called "shawn's deal of the day." the products range from dvd's and mangas to wall scrolls and watches.

edit: another good thing about shawn's deal of the day is that you can stack the discount with their membership discount.

Just for the record, Sgt. Frog Vol. 4 is out now. I picked it up at my local comic store on Wednesday.
