I'm planning on picking up a DVD player to play all these DVD's, specifically a Philips 642 and I was wondering if anyone knew the best place I could find it new and for cheap. I'm looking at below $70 since that seems to be the standard price for it everywhere for the most part unless it's refurbished. shakes head.

I got my region-free DVD player from Costco last year for under 50 bucks. I think you can find them for around $40 or less nowadays.
 
Well part of my reason for this is it being Progressive Scan and you can throw all kinds of different formats at it as well including VCD and SVCD, DivX too.
 
I got the $18 DVD Player that is Progressive Scan, Region Free (Suposedly), and it plays DVD-Rs at BB on Black Friday of 04'
 
Yeah, my cheapass DVD player supports Progressive Scan and plays all the -R medias as well, not to mention VCDs and SVCDs.

Hella deal compared to the near $1000 I paid for my Pioneer LD/DVD combo player.
