I have an old model of the original GBA and I remember when the SP first came out a lot of stores gave you the option of trading in your classic GBA plus $50 for an SP. I wondered if that price has gone down any in the past year, or if anyone is just selling their used SPs cheap.
 
The most depndable discount for an SP is Fry's. THey run a $69.99 ad every few weeks. If you aren't in Fry's territory I don't know what to suggest. Most stores probably won't give you enough for a original GBA to be worth your while.

Have you considered its value as a secondary for two-player games?
 
eh, I only paid $20 for my used GBA classic on black Friday, so if I could trade it in plus $50 I'd still only be spending $70 total for the SP, same as Fry's.

This isn't that bad, but I wondered if they've gone down less in the past year. I've seen 'em for $50 used, but don't know of any deals going on now, and I'd rather make whatever I can off my classic before going in for the SP. Otherwise I will feel stupid for buying the classic since I don't play enough multiplayer GBA games.

Do you know how much EB sells their used SPs for?
 
Online, they sell them for $40 refurbished w/ power adapter.

Anyone that would rather have cash than EB credit can sell me their GBA, boxes and instructions not required, for $15 or so.

Can you find a link? I always have a hard time finding pre-owned systems at EB's site.
 
Just do the 'list all' for the platform and sort by the hardware category. List all means clicking on the platform name rather than the genre listed underneath. It doesn't appear they're offring much of a discount for a used SP right now:

If you don't care about games for the earlier Game Boy Color and B&W models, you want to hold out for a DS instead. THat gets you all the advantages of a SP on an even better screen plus a whole new library of DS games to choose from. About $50 more for a used unit but worth considering.
 
I sold off my original GBA plus battery pack for about $60 as the SP was launched so I could buy one. They aren't worth much these days, though.
