Cheapest way to subscribe to UK Gaming Magazines? (if you live in the USA)

It seems that a lot of people like the UK Multiplatform videogame magazines

.... except for the price ;) (if you want to subscribe and you live in the USA )

So my questions :

1. What websites / services / other means can you use to get a subscription to a UK Multiplatform Gaming magazine as CHEAP as possible?

(AND be able to *renew it at the SAME PRICE of course)

2. How much (US Dollars) would the subscription go down TO roughly using any methods you guys recommend?

(examples of UK multiplatform videogame mags: Edge, GamesTM, Games Master,
Computer and Video Games, etc.)

Thanks! ^_^

One thing that separates the UK gaming mag scene vs. the US one is that the UK ones tend to priced higher so they cover their costs, whereas the US model seems to rely most on ad sales to cover costs.

I've looked into getting Edge delivered, but everything I've seen is pretty expensive ($70 range). If someone has something cheaper, I'd be all over it too! :)

FYI, link to subscription directly from Edge:
http://www.imsnews.com/home.php?page=magPage&pubid=431

That's definitely the cheapest for Edge. Without that link, it'd be over $100.

What I do is - and you're going to laugh - subscribe to almost every US mag and read only the good parts. It's not as expensive as it sounds since you can get them cheap on Amazon and they often have instant rebates. What I recommend you do is just get a subscription to Game Informer and Play, as they're easily the best, and frequently check edge-online.com and CVG since they post a lot of their magazine content online. Presto: poor man's Edge.

Or you can just forgo a subscription and buy the mag periodically. $10 a month for 90% editorial content - you can literally go 15, 20 pages without seeing an ad - isn't bad. A US mag is $6, has less editorial and pages in general, more ads, and the content is more disposable with a heavy emphasis on reviews and previews.

Or you can wait - Future (the publisher of Edge) is rumored to be bringing out a new magazine this year, and I've been hoping that it's Next Generation. Remember that mag? It was the US version of Edge, literally.

OK :)

Couple of quesitons:

1. So is $70 or so per year the cheapest it gets for ANY UK based gaming magazine or is Edge MORE expensive than the other UK gaming mags? (like GamesTM or GamesMaster)

2. Now you've got me curious ;-)

Could someone please explain this quote from WhiteReflection: (WhiteReflection or someone else can chime in if they know what he meant ;) :

"I've been hoping that it's Next Generation. Remember that mag? It was the US version of Edge, literally"

Can anyone give any details as to how Next Generation (the mag) is like a USA version of Edge? O_O

.

Just read them at Barnes and Noble for free. Then stick with Game Informer for toilet reading and read everything else online. I'll forever miss my years of free EGM they've been a long time potty helper.

1. Edge and GamesMaster are definitely the cheapest UK multiplatform games magazine at $70. I would guess it's because their publisher, Future, is international while Imagine (publisher of Games TM) is UK only. The cheapest way to get Games TM is to buy the DVD compilations that have 25-50 issues for $30, but of course this isn't as timely. PC Gamer also regularly reprints articles from PC Gamer UK.

2. There was a US magazine in the 90's called Next Generation. It was affiliated and shared articles with Edge. It was shut down when the publisher had to downsize in 2001, so I'm hoping they bring it back this year.
