I'm finally considering geting an Xbox to get in on some of the good exclusive console games that the system gets since I finally have the money for one. The only problem is where to get it for the cheapest. Should I just get a new one, maybe with a warranty if needed? Should I get a used one from Gamestop, EB, or Game Crazy? Any deals online that are better? I didn't see anyone trading or selling their Xbox in the trading forum, unless it's not mentioned in the title. Bundles aren't necessary since I can usually get the games for cheap anyways without it. Any suggestions (on deals, not games)?

Get a new one from Game Crazy. They give you the 12 free rentals so it is the best deal. A used Xbox will only be trouble.

Yeah, but the 12 free rentals deal.. one a month for a year, that kinda sucks.

I agree, don't get a used one. I've had a lot of trouble with used XBOXs. Other than that advice, I don't know anywhere that sells below $150.

Okay, so used is now out of the question. I may just wait and see if any stores have a bundle for the system in the coming weeks. I know Fry's has the occasional bundle with some cheap, decent games.

nothing wrong with getting a used one, just ask to see it first, microsoft puts the date it was manufactured on there, unlike sony, so you can actually find a system that was built fairly recently

The only "deals" Ive ever seen are bundles or buying from an online place with some sort of coupons (dodging tax and getting a few bucks off) Doublecheck for the shipping though.

Good point there. The serial number also has manufacture date, look for most recent(aug2004-newer would be best) then look at the drive (newest with samsung should do). Thats if your willing to look into all that just to save $20-30.

DONT buy a used system, go to Game Crazy and get the 12 free rentals with a new xbox. A large number of them are from people who traded theirs in as they started getting dirty disk errors and other problems.
