I decided to bite the bullet and replace my busted USA 360 with a Japanese Core system, specifically the Trusty Bell Premium Pack, available only in Japan. In case you were wondering, the USA hard drive worked without a problem.

What % of your games will work on a Japanese system? Also, I now feel ripped off as an American consumer. Where's my alarm clock?

A healthy chunk of the USA games are region free...I don't know the exact % in my collection though.

Free stuff = win. Glad to see they're basically giving away 360s over there, even though it is a core.

Though couldn't you send your 360 to someone in the states that you know, to get it repaired, and then just send it back to you? Or would that be too much money/effort? (I'm sure sending something as heavy as a 360 wouldn't be cheap to ship overseas).
After watching you unbox the system, it's no wonder your Xbox 360 red ringed when you treat it like crap.
I hope you are kidding. Do you think Microsoft is laying out over ONE BILLION in repair costs because people are handling their boxes too roughly?
What's that outro music called?
It's the Funkstar Deluxe remix of "Ring My Bell"

I know this is going to sound jerky but I just always figured you could get your 360 replaced for free. I mean you think PR wise MS would take care of major website owners/operators.
If Mass Effect ends up being Region Locked, would you buy annother american 360?
My guess is that I will get another USA 360 sometime, somehow.

I want that clock! :)

You probably could get some good money for that clock on eBay, everyone loves paying insane prices from stupid free video game crap!

I'm guessing that you have never seen how UPS delivers them?
They are the masters of disaster in package handling.

You still have the non-working 360, correct?
Aside from exporting / importing charges is the 360 still covered under MS warranty?

I like UPS, but USPS is worst, must worst. I have seen them at work at an airport, this was 10 years ago, but my packages look as bad now. They had a huge box with 'FRAGILE!!!"across it and were using a forklift to put it on a plane. they dropped it from 5-8 feet up, landed on it's side, acted like nothing happened and tried again. I had to leave so I didn't see if it fell again or if they got it on the plane. The smaller packages they were just throwing around like they were trash.

Then the USPS then goes "we are losing money because of email", no, it's most likely because no one trusts you. I'm still waiting for my Best Buy order to show up, UPS delivered it most of the way for some reason and now USPS has it and it's been moving incredibly slowly.

I bet Major Nelson brings Cheapy a new Xbox 360. Does anyone know how to get a japanese 360 here in the states besides getting ripped off? $250 is a great price.
Was anyone looking at you weird purchasing a 360 and all?
He's an American living in Japan... I'm sure they look at him funny all the time. :)
I saw this on Kotaku this morning. I was wondering why it wasn't front paged here already.
Me too. I thought it was strange.

Yeah Cheapy, the Core has always came with a White DVD drive. The Premium has the "Special" Chrome DVD drive.

Microsoft was actually listing this as a bonus reason to get the Premium at launch. Kind of like how the PS3 60 Gig has the Silver trim and the 20 gig was all in Black.

Do you when the Trusty Bell JPN 360 pckg or something else?

Would you consider just replacing the optical drive?

Maybe too much work with the risk of voiding the warranty. :p

I don't think the region coding is solely in the DVD drive of the X360 since there is no region hack yet, but we know the drives firmware has been compromised.

You get one of 5 Eternal Sonata faceplates when you pre-order the game at gamestop. Also be sure to let us know how much money you got for Trusty Bell when you sell it.

Seriously are you kidding? You must be a god damned masseuse if you think that was "treating it like crap"

Haha, that clocks is almost as ghetto as my Atelier Lise clock I got. Though mine also speaks some phrase that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Where there free things with Eternal Sonata and Blue Dragon?
Personally, I would of gone with either of those two; not Trusty Bell.

Trusty Bell and Eternal Sonata are the same thing. Trusty Bell is the JAP name of Eternal Sonata.

Also I feel ripped off preordering eternal Sonata, I want a soundtrack and a clock plus my faceplate!

Trusty Bell is Eternal Sonata. :p

Anyways, the first run of the blue dragon bundle did get extras, but that was last year around christmas time. Unless something changed since then, they haven't added any extras to the post-first run Blue Dragon bundle. Though I guess you'd get a better answer from someone else who knows first hand.

Guys, they sell those same clocks here in the states at stores like Ocean State Job Lot....or if you aren't in the North East, at Dollar stores or WalMarts or Circle K's or Sunoco stations or... :D

Basically they just slap a little picture in there and boom, instant custom clock.

Personally, since this is Japan, I'm shocked they didn't choose to include a Trusty Bell Love Pillow :p

Yeah they did but it got an AO rating so they toned it down lol. Seriously though I hate the fact that japanese get all the cool extras. I want to live Japan, everything there seems to be cool.
Trusty Bell is Eternal Sonata.
Oh, whoops. I didn't catch that.
I knew the cover looked familiar.
Wow, that Blue Dragon bundle is nice.

Hint Hint, Major nelson huh?

I was almost certain you were going to hold up the Trusty Bell clock to your neck and yell, "Yeah, BBBBOOOOOYYYY!", Flava Flav style.

Are all your games region free?
